Get Ready for 90s Weekend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bates chapter.

One of the busiest and craziest weekends at Bates is finally approaching us. From Newman Day to Puddle Jump to 90s Dance, it’s easy to get carried away with all the fun. Here are some tips to keep you on your feet and wearing the best 90s attire.

Friday

First things first, its Newman day! An old Bates tradition that keeps morale high and excites us all for Puddle Jump. Last year on the Den Delivery Snapchat, we had the chance to witness another Batesies eat 24 bananas to keep in the Newman day tradition, with a healthy kick.

Then there is the coveted Puddle Jump. The Bates Outing Club carves a hole into the puddle by Olin and then Batesies line up and jump in costumes with friends into the frigid winter waters.

Even though it is very cold out, don’t wear a ton of clothes! It will weigh you down and make it harder to get out of the puddle. Also, be careful getting out!! It’s slippery and the ice is cut, you are bound to get a cut or two.

If jumping into the winter waters isn’t your thing, you can stay warm by the bonfire and enjoy hot drinks while watching your friends take the plunge.

Saturday

I cannot stress this enough, DON’T WAIT FOR A LAST-MINUTE GOODWILL RUN. Every savvy college student knows that Goodwill has great finds for unbelievable prices. So ahead over before the Saturday rush and pick up a nice 90s outfit.

90s is all about plaid, Adidas’ Superstars, and chokers. Have fun and be creative. And never forget to take a ton of pics to document the night.

In the midst of all this fun, please remember to be safe and aware at all times. And never walk home alone, practice safe living!

Now get ready for 90s Weekend!
