Throughout everyone’s life there are weeks that tend to be more hectic than others. During these hectic weeks, it is easy to become stressed out, unmotivated, or overwhelmed. There are different ways to keep the stress down and it is as simple as putting time aside everyday or every couple of days to provide yourself with self care. Here are some things that help me decompress when I am stressed out.

  • Staying hydrated

  • Taking at least 30 minutes out of your day to do something that you enjoy

    • Hobbies

    • Read a book

    • Journal

    • Plan out the week

  • Going on a walk

    • The walk does not have to be long it is just to get fresh air and to relieve stress that you are feelin

  • Making time for individuals who give you good energy and positive contributions to your life

  • Implementing meditation or yoga into you daily routine

  • Taking a bath

  • Practicing breathing by doing breathing exercises

    • Breathe in for 6 seconds, hold for 6 seconds, and release for 6 seconds

  • Go and treat yourself

    • Get tea or coffee

    • Get your nails done

    • Go out to dinner

    • Get out of the house

  • Stretching

  • Doing a craft

  • Writing down what is on your mind

    • After talking about what is on your mind write down the positives that are going on

There are many different things individuals can try to decompress. It does not always have to be extravagant; it can be as simple as making yourself a cup of tea or taking a walk around the block. Self care is important in order to support individuals’ needs during stressful and hectic weeks when someone might not have time for themselves. Self-care allows every individual to take care of themselves throughout busy times and to keep the stress levels down.
