Apparel design student Telvin Arman Florence and his friends Dana and Chris.
His Inspiration:
“I’m inspired by attitudes (think chill, laid-back styles) and clothes that have a worn-in quality.”
The Internship:
Florence scored a dream internship with a closeknit team at Alexander Wang where he learned about the fashion industry and the business aspects that are involved in daily work. He spent his time in New York doing everything from running errands around the Fashion District to working with Photoshop and Excel, all of which are essential to working in fashion. His advice to those applying for internships? “Really research the company you’re applying to and mold your image to the company’s,” he said.
Spring Break Style:
Two of Telvin’s friends (Dana Davenport, center; Chris Campbell, right) accompanied him to the interview and helped compile these fashion and lifestyle tips for next week’s spring break:
- “Keep your feet nice!”
- No boardshorts for guys, but don’t be afraid to show some ankle while wearing pants.
- Embrace loose, flowy looks.
- “Find a good strapless bra.”
- Exfoliate and sunscreen!
- Top knots and a bright lip color are a quick way to look polished.
