When was the last time you paused?

I mean, really paused.

Don’t remember? No issues, I got you. Come do this with me.

It might seem awkward, and probably uneasy. Why is this randoms stranger on the internet asking me to pause my day? I have so much work, so many classes. This is so weird.

But don’t you think despite the urge to not do it, you might need it?

So hey, how about this – let’s pause together?

I won’t ask you to do much. Just to put your phone away for 15 minutes. Shut all tabs except this. Lock your door. And really just ground yourself in your own energy. Find your centre and focus on yourself.

I will only ask you to think about yourself. What makes you who you are?

Now easy, why don’t we list together a list, non-exhaustive, of things that make each of us happy.

I’ll go first.

  1. Healthy but GOOD yummy food
  2. Laughing till my tummy hurts and I tear up
  3. Long drives
  4. Sitting by the waves
  5. Talking to my best friends/meeting them and having so much to catch up on
  6. The feeling I get when someone compliments my writing
  7. Dancing in the waves and screaming to songs with earphones in
  8. Late night deep conversations or even late nights to myself listening to old songs
  9. Watching shows and movies, obsessively overanalysing them, finding massive relatability in the characters
  10. Playing with small babies and puppies
  11. Being productive and achieving a short-term goal, or even a long term one
  12. Imagining fake scenarios in my head about my future which I can only hope I fulfil

  14. When someone puts their head on my shoulder
  15. Horror stories
  16. Looking at old pictures on my phone and in albums
  17. My family
  18. Taking time out for myself to do anything I want
  19. Smelling an old scent or listening to an old song which reminds me of a simpler and much more wholesome time, bittersweet but always worth it
  20. Cold coconut water
  21. Buffet breakfast spreads
  22. Smell of coffee and cold coffee itself
  23. Aesthetic looking rooms and anything pastel or black
  24. Hoop earrings and rings
  25. Doing my nails
  26. Doing my own and someone else’s make up and skincare
  27. Giving advice and helping someone out, being their emotional support and helping them overcome something
  28. Shopping
  29. Tiny baby clothes and shoes in clothing stores
  30. Gifts which are heartfelt and remind me of someone and a specific experience or memory with them
  31. Museums

  35. Getting to hear what someone thinks about you from someone
  36. Sharing memes with all my friends
  37. Dressing up and realising I feel like the sexiest girl alive
  38. Being alone at home sometimes
  39. Stalking MBTI posts (I’m an INFJ!)

  41. SWINGS
  42. Trips with my favourite people

  46. Finding stories in strangers on the road
  47. Having conversations about the meaning of life with someone
  48. Dark academia and angel-core aesthetics

Now you go!

Thank you so much for pausing with me. I hope you do it more often. I hope you treat yourself to your favourite food today.

Take care, yeah?
