Almost two decades later, Mean Girls has once again stepped into the spotlight (although, let’s be real, it never really left). The buzz surrounding its musical adaptation, which hit theaters on January 12, has reignited the fervor for all things Plastics. The global premiere at New York City’s AMC Lincoln Square Theater was nothing short of a star-studded affair, with the new cast, including Angourie Rice, Christopher Briney, Reneé Rapp, Avantika, Bebe Wood, Jaquel Spivey, and Auli’i Cravalho, gracing the event (and looking amazing of course).

As the cast and guests walked the pink carpet, it was evident that the plastic’s fashion legacy is alive and well. Pink accents dominated the outfits, a homage to the iconic 2004 film. With the movie’s release already a box office hit, the question arises: What should you wear to the Mean Girls musical movie? Buckle up, loser, we’re going shopping.

1. REGINA-GEORGE-CORE

Since the original Mean Girls movie, I’ve been obsessed with Regina’s classic off-the-shoulder look. You know, the one before she gets hit by the bus? Or gets nudged, depending on which cafeteria gossip you choose to believe about our girl Cady. It’s that classic “I saw Regina George do it, so now it’s my turn” moment that we all secretly live for. Petal and Pup’s Sancia Off the Shoulder Knit Top ($36) effortlessly captures the essence of Regina’s style, making it an absolute must-have fora Regina inspired look! Pair the top with a pink belt, initial necklace, a chic braid, and Chinese Laundry’s classic 42 Gold Rafee Pump ($70) to complete the ensemble!

2. THAT’S SO FETCH

Channeling Gretchen Wieners, the cutest Lola Knit Top from Petal & Pup ($60) is my go-to choice for capturing her signature fitted sweater look. This look becomes the epitome of fetch when paired with a chic mini skirt and adorned with plenty of sparkly jewelry, bringing a contemporary twist to early 2000s glamour. To complete the ensemble, I’ve opted for the trendy Rhyme Time Dress Slingback in Silver from Chinese Laundry ($70), seamlessly merging nostalgia with a modern touch.

3. YOU CAN’T SIT WITH US

On Wednesday we wear pink! So make sure you show up in style with Petal and Pup’s Ryann Button Front Cardigan ($59) in true Plastic’s fashion. The vibrant magenta hue will be sure to secure you a spot at the Mean Girls table (or theater). Pair the pink with a leather mini skirt, tights, and black heels to finish off the look.
