Why Your Mom is Your Ultimate BFFL

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

I remember a time in my life when I didn’t want to talk to my Mom and I thought I knew so much better than her. You know the phase I’m talking about, when you’re “too cool” to listen to anything she says because she just “doesn’t understand.”

But, it doesn’t take much until you’ve dug yourself in a deep hole of “I don’t know what I was thinking” and guess who comes to the rescue… Momma. For me, that astonishing moment was when the guy I was dating turned out to be a jerk, just like she had been trying to tell me all along. Since then, she has continued to solidify the fact (or more so, that I have come to the realization) that my she is my ultimate BFFL. Here are the top reasons why your Mom is your ultimate BFFL.

1. She truly gets you

She carried you around for nine months and then raised you since the day you were born. She knows basically everything about you. Even the stuff you think she doesn’t know, she probably does. She knows the kind of person you are, what you like, what you don’t like, your hobbies, who is good for you, and she definitely knows who is not.

2. She listens to you

No matter if you are upset, angry, happy, or excited. She will always be there and be glad to listen and hear about what’s going on in your life. And she will more than likely always take your side in every situation.

3. She will always forgive you and make up

Your Mom loves you more than anything and nothing can get in the way of that. She will always forgive you for the crazy and stupid things you WILL do in your life.

4. She gives the best advice

She’s insanely smart, it’s low key terrifying. But, on the bright side that means she has the best knowledge to give you life advice, which you will need a lot of.

5. She’s a lot like you, so you’re bound to have a lot of fun

Let’s face it, she raised you to be one of her own. She’s got a wild side and she wasn’t going to supress that in her kids. At a point in your relationship you turn from a mother daughter to a wild BFF.

Face it. Your Mom is your ultimate BFFL. Just accept it and do have wine night with her while you cry over your favorite person on the Bachelorette getting voted off. Love you Mom!
