Why You Should Be Excited For Break!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Amherst chapter.

Yes, it’s finals week, but why must we dwell on something we already know.  You’re already studying for exams, or pretending to study as you get distracted by specks of light.  Some of you maybe packing to go home, on the way home or already snuggling in your own bed (lucky!).  Either way, you should keep your eyes on the prize.  Break officially starts next week and we’re here to remind you of all the awesome stuff you’re going to do. Look in the now, darling!

Sleeping, so much sleeping.

Does this even have to be explained?  Maybe you weren’t into sleep when you were in high school or the beginning of freshman year.  But now, you sure start to value it.  You know it’s bad when sleeping for four hours sounds like a luxury.  On break, you can sleep for as ever long as you work.  If you can ignore your folks poking you with a stick to make sure you’re alive.

Family Time

Okay, so perhaps you went away to college to get away from your family.  And you may only call home during one of your breakdowns, but you have to admit:  there is something amazing about going home after a long time and everyone is happy to see you.  The college kids are home and are like the celebrities.  Oh yeah, the attention is all on you and lots of love going around.  Just continue to choke down your dinner as the questions about school and your major keeps popping up everywhere.  It’s break, gosh dang it!

FOOD!!!!

We won’t say anything bad about Val, but nothing can compare to your home.  Whether you family cooking is the bomb or you want to visit your favorite restaurant, that’s always a great thing about break.  Even if you’re in a different place than you would usually call home, there’s always food somewhere that you can eat. Isn’t that beautiful?

Old Time Friends

Your college friends are awesome and you love them to pieces, but let’s face it, you made many connections before coming to Amherst.  You miss those people. You don’t have to explain anything they know everything about you.  Heck, you may not even have talk, just being around each other is enough to catch up.

Vacation

If you’re lucky enough to go on vacation or leave town or visit a friend somewhere else, it’s doubly as awesome.  Whether you’re taking in the sun or playing in the snow, have a blast because you’re not at school and you have no obligations.

So yeah, it maybe finals week…

…but we have so much to look forward to!  Do your best because you are so close to your freedom.
