Democrats are using abortion bans to win the midterms

Joe Biden
addressed abortion restrictions on Oct. 4, 100 days after Roe v. Wade was overturned by the United States Supreme Court.

Biden issued an executive order that supports patients traveling out of state to seek medical care, ensures that health care providers comply with federal non-discrimination laws and promotes research on maternal health outcomes, according to the White House

“I respect everyone’s view on this — personal decisions they make, but, my Lord, we’re talking about contraception here. It shouldn’t be that controversial,” Biden said in a meeting with the Task Force on Reproductive Healthcare Access.

A recent Gallup poll demonstrates that 55% of Americans identify as ‘pro-choice.’

Although a majority of Americans identify as ‘pro-choice,’ Republican congress members continue to defend the Supreme Court’s decision and advocate for strict anti-abortion legislation.

Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) recent 15-week abortion ban proposal is just one example of Republicans’ efforts to ban abortion.

Midterm season is here and Democrats have decided to focus on abortion bans in order to win voters over for the midterms.

According to a recent poll, abortion is the most important issue for Democratic voters this November.

Democratic leaders are well aware of the passion that voters have this November after Roe v. Wade was overturned in June.

Democratic candidate Katie Darling, running against incumbent House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), released a campaign ad to show her support for access to abortion in Louisiana. The ad is unlike any other campaign ads. Darling’s ad shows her giving birth to her son, “We should be putting pregnant women at ease, not putting their lives at risk,” Darling says in a voiceover.

In the race for the governor of Texas, candidate Beto O’Rourke has made it very clear that he supports access to abortion in Texas.

O’Rourke undoubtedly supports a person’s right to choose what they do with their body, unlike his opponent, incumbent Greg Abbott.

“A total abortion ban, no exception for rape, no exception for incest, all because of Greg Abbot who signed this into law,” O’Rourke said in an interview with MSNBC

While abortion may be a catalyst to get Democrats to the polls, no election results are for certain until November.
