Sigma Lambda Beta

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Alabama chapter.

Name of Organization: Sigma Lambda Beta

Objective of our organization: Nationally, our objective is to nurture and further a dynamic, values-based environment which utilizes our historically Latino based fraternity as a catalyst to better serve the needs and wants of all people. Within the local chapter, we prefer to simplify it by saying that we provide a place where anyone can feel at home despite their race, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic statues while still exposing them to leadership and cultural awareness opportunities based on our four pillars: Brotherhood, Cultural Awareness, Scholarship, and Community Service.

How can others get involved in your organization? We tend to be rather open with regard to working with outside people on events. We also recruit every semester. If you’d like to host an event with us or would like to meet some of the brothers, we would be more than happy to do so. Join us at our table during Get On Board Day or contact me directly at aclaros@crimson.ua.edu

What is your favorite part about your organization? (have members provide quotes, include their name, position if applicable, and year)

“My favorite part is visiting other chapters and seeing how diverse our brotherhood truly is. In short…Road Trips!” -Alex Cruz, Member, Spring 2012

“BETACON!!!!!” (our national convention) – Lacy McClung, Member, Fall 2015

“The fact we are so close that we act like family. Cause literally I wanna choke Lacy, but I don’t because I love him.” -Maxwell Mortellaro, Vice President Fall 2015
