What has your experience been like as an out-of-state student? “My experience has as an out-of-state student has been nothing short of amazing. I was really lucky to meet a great group of friends from all over the country, as well as get involved with numerous organizations that have kept me busy. Coming to the University of Alabama as an out-of-state student has been one of the best decisions of my life and has given me so many incredible opportunities. I am so thankful to have such great people around me for support and pushing me to be a better version of myself everyday.”
What clubs are you involved in? “I’m on the Alabama Women’s Club Lacrosse team and Honors College Student Advisory Board, I’m a Project Health Health Hut Intern, Honors Year One Mentor, Alabama Action Student Leader and AAUW Policy Fellow, and I’m in the Healthcare Management Society.”
What is your favorite part about being on the lacrosse team? “I love being able to travel all over the Southeast and playing the sport I love with the team. The lacrosse team has given me a really great group of girls that have become my family and I love being able to share the experiences of traveling to different places with them. We all have an intense passion for the sport and it’s so exciting to see what we can accomplish each practice and tournament we go to.”
Which character on Scandal is your favorite? “Mellie Grant (MELLIE GRANT FOR PRESIDENT WOO!!)”
Who is your celebrity crush? Patrick Dempsey (duh)
What’s the best advice you have ever gotten? “Keep Jumping. You never know when you’re going to get your ‘big break’ or your dream job offer or any amazing opportunity so the best thing you can do is keep jumping. A small job or opportunity can give you the connections and skills to be able to land your dream job so it’s important to always be improving and working towards your goals. I think that this advice has really given me the push to apply for more opportunities, try and run for leadership positions, and even go that extra step on a class project. If you keep jumping you might surprise yourself on where you land.”
Where do you see yourself in five years? “Hopefully working in the Public Health field, maybe coaching lacrosse for fun somewhere in the community where I live. I also want to be traveling all over the country. My goal is to travel to all 50 states between 20 and 30 years old so hopefully in 5 years I’ll be at least halfway there. I’ll also still probably be obsessing over Alabama Football and Shonda Rhimes’s shows, I don’t see that changing anytime soon.”
