The start of the holiday season is beginning and has come much faster than we all expected! While this time of year is lots of fun with events, family gatherings, and eating food until you physically can’t, it’s important to make sure you are taking care of yourself. It’s easy to get distracted with everything going on, and forgetting to take care of you mental and physical health can be so easy. Prioritizing yourself and practicing self-care is so important, especially during the busiest time of year. You want to be able to enjoy the holiday season and everything it encompasses, so make sure you’re taking care of yourself. Here are some easy ways to keep your health and happiness in check this holiday season.

Take a break from everything going on and watch one of your favorite holiday movies. Some of my favorites are “Elf,” “Serendipity,” or anything on the Hallmark channel. Watch whatever your heart desires and what will make you feel good!

Treat yourself! Whether it’s getting your hair done or a manicure/pedicure, I always feel more relaxed after indulging in a self-care moment. Plus, you’ll look great in all the holiday pictures!

If you’re usually physically active, don’t stop during the holidays just because time is more valuable or you’re more stressed. Your physical health is a priority and exercise helps your body produce serotonin, which benefits your mental health as well.

If you are overwhelmed by everything going on, take a day off. While it may seem counterintuitive, rest is needed to recharge your mind and body.

If you like to write out your thoughts and feelings, keep a journal for the holiday season to let everything out. No one else will read it, but you will feel better mentally after journaling.

Keep in mind that the holiday season brings stress and challenges to everyone, and you are not alone. You will get through this season and make so many amazing memories with the people you love. Don’t be scared to share how you feel with others as they most likely feel the same way. Remember, your health and happiness are so important, especially during the holidays!
