What is the objective of your organization?
We are a non-profit organization seeking to empower Alabama’s underappreciated business and community leaders. Our goal is to support micro-entrepreneurs, provide them access to capital, credit building, and incubatory development. What events do you plan to hold this semester/what is your next event?
Forza Financial is holding a business plan competition open to all high school students in the Tuscaloosa area. The event will be held on the University of Alabama’s campus in the Ferguson Center Ballroom on Sunday, April 23 from 1-4 PM. How can others get involved in your organization?
Forza is constantly looking for new community partners, volunteers, and funding sources. Students are invited to apply for a Forza Financial internship, no matter one’s field of study or background. Interns have the opportunity to work in any one of Forza’s departments (finance, operations, investments, business coaching, and communications), working on projects and assignments that advance their department’s goals. What is your favorite part about your organization?
Margaret Dowling, junior, Chief Executive Officer: “Forza is not like any other organization on campus. Because of our dedication to community service and eagerness to learn, a group of twenty-five, passionate students allocate time each day to strongly impact the city of Tuscaloosa. We help make a noticeable difference in the city by providing micro loans and business consulting. Five years down the road, we can visit Tuscaloosa and physically see the changes we have made to small local businesses. We truly believe in our mission: ‘Building a better Alabama, one idea at a time.’”
