Self-Care Ideas for the Single’s Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Akron chapter.

Valentine’s Day is only a day away and for the loveless lovers out there, the holiday can come as a reminder that you are indeed single af. But being single on Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a bad thing! There are ways to still show someone you love them, even if that someone is yourself. So here are some tips and tricks to turning this lovely holiday into a self love holiday.

1. Buy yourself flowers! Act really surprised when you see them on your doorstep or desk. (Cry a little for theatrics if you really want people to know how much you love you.)

2. Indulge in those Valentine’s Day chocolate boxes (or wait until the next day when they’re 50% off).

3. Write yourself a love note. List all the things that you love about yourself, all the things you’ve accomplished, all the memories you have made on your own.

4. Have a relaxing spa day. Candles, bath oils, bath bombs, music, painting your nails and toes, and a relaxing bubble bath while watching a episode of your favorite show or reading a good book are all great options. It’s whatever you want because it’s your day to celebrate how much you love you!

5. Cook yourself a great meal and dessert. Go all out! Lobster! Steak! Treat yourself!

6. Plan a Galentine’s Day with your girls. Get your girl’s together and have day out, night out, or just get in your pj’s for a night in. Make it extra special by planning out little games or card exchanges with personalized notes. Part of loving yourself is sharing that love with others

7. Go out on a movie date night. Get dressed up and everything. It’s a great way to spend some quality time with yourself outside the house.

8. Take a trip to your local art museum. Pretend you are a fancy art curator and critique the exhibits you see. Write about it on your blog too!

9. Exercise! Get that really cute gym outfit out of the closet and get to stepping.

10. Do your makeup! Get all pretty-fied and snap it up for your followers on Instagram.  Paint that face!

11. Or just paint! Grab some wine, turn up the music, and start painting a work of art that will make you famous.

12. Meditate and Yoga: Wake up early and start your day off right with morning stretches and breathing exercises.

13. Recite affirmations about how amazing, talented, and great you are! Build up that confidence and self love.

14. Redecorate your room. There is nothing like moving your room around and hanging up some cute decor to inspire some joy.

15. Or just stay in your own bed. Don’t look at it as escaping the world of Valentines, but rather as taking that day and celebrating it the best way you know how. By sleeping!
