Chilling out with the SPAs: Advising Celebration

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Agnes Scott chapter.

On Friday, December 7th, first years, Summit peer advisors (SPAs), and academic advisors all gathered in the Campbell Atrium to celebrate the end of the fall semester. The food and drinks were plentiful, in particular the vegetarian sandwich I had was amazing. There were  tables filled with activities like coloring, writing greeting cards, and playing card games. People gathered around tables eating and talking, enjoying themselves. My personal favorite table was the coloring table. It was filled with various themed adult coloring books. The designs were so beautifully intricate, I imagine it would take days to finish. The perfect activity to ease tension before finals. There was even a raffle, which a few lucky people won and walked away with gift cards to various places. It was a time for everyone to come together and relax before finals begin next week, but also a time to celebrate. For me and other first years, this is a big moment, the end of our first semester of college. It is a big accomplishment.

After I left I did some reflecting. This event made me realize how fast time has gone by. It seems just yesterday I was back home nervously waiting for my move to Georgia. But at the same time, it feels like a lifetime ago. So after I finish my finals and leave for home, I want to take a moment to congratulate myself and everyone else on finishing the fall semester and to enjoy their break.
