Instagram is the perfect place to watch Tasty videos, happily follow The Rock, and send your friends funny memes. But sometimes, we find ourselves feeling down after using it. Perhaps you ingested a bunch of your friend’s drama that she posted on her story, or maybe you follow a news account that has nothing but gloom-and-doom to report. Or, maybe you find yourself comparing yourself to models and people you know that seem to have glistening skin and hourglass figures. Whatever it is, sometimes we leave IG feeling less than OK.

I’ve been there. Something that’s helped me combat this feeling is curating a feed that for the most part makes me happy and inspires me. Here’s a couple accounts you can follow to soak up the good vibes too.

Shine

Shine is all about self-care and motivation; two things we could all use a little more of every day! Their posts motivate me to crush my goals, remind me to be gentle with myself, and give me a boost when I’m feeling low. It feels good to scroll through my feed and find posts that lift my spirits and remind me of my greatness. I mean, who knew a social media account could be so affirming? I first found out about Shine through an influencer named Lilly Singh, when the feel-good company just started their initiative of sending free, motivational texts to those subscribed. Between getting morning texts from bae and figuring out what to wear, these texts are nice to wake up to and reflect on. Follow them on IG for empowering affirmations and cute reminders.

Girl Love

Remember that beauty Lilly Singh I mentioned a couple of seconds ago? Well, she started a movement called #GirlLove, which centers around girls supporting girls and ending girl-on-girl hate. Honestly, I could cry. These types of movements and accounts are SUPER important for girls and women to follow. Social media at times can be a breeding ground for comparison, jealousy, and negativity between women. But we all deserve so much more than that. All of us deserve to thrive and should be encouraged to lift each other up! Follow Girl Love on IG for posts celebrating queens you know and love, and for reminders to keep uplifting the beauties in your life.

Her Campus Adelphi

What? Don’t look at me like that. I haaad to sneak this one in here! All bias aside, our chapter’s IG page is filled with tons of memes, feel-goods, and giveaways! And we’re only growing bigger! If you want to be featured in one of our posts slide in our DMs @hercampusadelphi. We won’t disappoint ;)

It’s important for us to be mindful of what we’re consuming on our feeds. When you scroll on Instagram do you feel light-hearted, motivated, and affirmed? Or instead, do you feel anxious, jealous, and a little drained? We have the choice to curate our feeds with accounts we love, and in turn, feed ourselves good vibes. After all, we deserve it.
