Spring break is near, but some of us may still be in hibernation mode (I know I am). I think it’s time we get our bodies moving and spring- break ready! Here are some easy workouts and tips to help us get healthy and in shape for the beautiful weather.

1. Get that heart rate going!

Cardio is an important part of getting fit. Even just 20-30 minutes a day can make a difference. If you want to take it easy to begin with, decrease your speed but increase your time and vice versa. Go for a jog, hop on the elliptical, or you can even run up and down your stairs. Anything that gets your heart rate pumping! Below is a 20-minute workout that can be done at home, no equipment needed. Also check out Blogilates on YouTube. She has great cardio routines! https://www.youtube.com/user/blogilates/featured

2. Tone Up!

We all have that one area that we wish was a little tighter. There are workouts for all of our “problem” areas. Target the area(s) a few times a week and change you shall see. Consistency is key. Below is a toning workout for tummies.

3. Do You Even Lift, Bro?

Weight lifting is another great way to build muscle and tone. Push yourself but don’t exceed your maximum. Repetition, intensity, and resistance are all important variables when weight lifting. However, the quantities vary and depend on each other. Remember to get enough protein and allow your sore muscles to rest. Check out the workout below.

4. Namaste… Become a Yogi

If you’re the kind of person that prefers less intense workouts, try yoga. You’d be surprised how challenging yoga can be without having to catch your breath.  Not only are you stretching and strengthening your muscles, you’re also focusing on your breathing (which sounds easier than it is). If you are looking to tone, there is yoga for that too. Check out Yoga with Adriene’s weight loss playlist on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/user/yogawithadriene/playlists

#goals

The goal is to find what works best for you and stick with that. Being consistent is sure to show you results, but also don’t forget the importance of good nutrition. Now here comes my most important tip: if you are happy about the way your body looks, no matter what it looks like, then you…are ready. Spring break here we come!
