Class, in general, can be a little intimidating, even after being in it for a while. If you are a quiet person or you don’t think you have the time, it might be little difficult inviting classmates out. So here are a few tips and starters to help you make new friends, from class during the semester.

1.  Study Groups

When a big exam is coming up, everyone is in panic mode. Making a group chat and planning a study group session is the best way to get to know your classmates and do well on your all of your exams! Helping people and being helped is a bonding experience because you all realize you aren’t the only one struggling.

2. Hang Out Outside University

There are a million things to do while getting to know your classmates. For starters, who doesn’t love bowling, ice skating, or volunteering? Most of the week is for class and assignments but the weekends should be spent destressing. Relaxing with your classmates is the best way to relieve tension. Try having a spa day or a movie night.

3. Food!

Who doesn’t like to eat?! Go find a local place to eat in between classes to recharge for your next class with your new friends. Try new and unique foods that you would usually never eat. When you go outside your comfort zone, you will never wanna stop!

4. Traveling is a Must

Who doesn’t love adventure! I know when I’m stressed I love taking my camera out and going where the wind takes me. Exploring new places is always fun to do when you have a friend to tag along. Go on a hike, go to the city, or go to the town you pass but never visit. Make new memories with the people you will know for the rest of your life.

With these tips and starters, you’re set! Don’t forget to be open and be yourself. You have nothing to be afraid of when making new friends.

Where to start? Let's start off with my name because it's simple and can tell you quite a lot about someone. My name is Olivia, I was named after a character from a Shakespeare play because my mother loved literature. Since my mother loved literature so much, she would read to me every night and then I learned how to read which led to my passion for literature and storytelling. Even though I am a physics major, nothing will stop me from pursuing a career in writing whether it's creative or scholarly work.
