You wake up feeling great. Birds are chirping, the sun is shining and you wake up with enough time to get to your 8 am class and still make it in time to get your favorite coffee place. And just as you’re about to sit up in bed and get ready to conquer the day then it hits you: your sick.  No one likes being sick or feeling under the weather. If it’s the common cold or to take a mental health day. Here are some helpful tips to get you better and back to running the world ladies.

Heat:

Whenever I don’t feel good I use a heat pack or my heated blanket sometimes on a gentle heat or on the highest level depending on how sick I may feel. But when I am at class or at work then I can’t have a heated blanket around me, unfortunately. In that case, I use a heat pack. There are some specifically for heating a person’s body that you can get from any drug store but what I usually use is a hand warmer pack that I tuck under a shirt.

These last hours and definitely good for on the go wherever I may need one.

Steam:

Ladies I cannot praise this enough but anytime I get a hint of being sick I use steam. If it’s boiling hot water on the stove, using hot water in the bathroom or just turning on the shower on hot and sitting in the bathroom letting the steam hit my nose, it’s the best thing to do and it feels so good.

Meditation:

Sometimes your mental/emotional health can affect your physical health. There was a  time when I got so stressed out from school, personal life, and friends that I actually made myself sick and on the verge of vomiting. #EW

One of my friends saw how sick I had made myself and taught me about meditation. At first, I was skeptical about how meditation would be like and if I would actually like it until I gave it a try and I will say that it does help. (Would you believe it?)

I started using this app called Pacifica. It has helped me some take time out of my busy schedule for me time and reflect during the day so I can continue completing all the tasks I have for the day.

Turn Off All Devices

End all distractions. Although it may be tough sometimes unplugging is the best medicine you can give yourself.

No one likes being sick but hopefully, these couple of tips can make any sickness go away as fast as it came

Hi, I'm Kait. I am currently a senior at Adelphi University and I am a Communications Major with a concentration in Digital Media and Cinema Studies. I love writing and have written stories ever since I was a little girl. Once I graduate from Adelphi University I hope to become a screenwriter working for film or television. But until then you'll see me socializing with my friends and family, studying for the next exam, or writing my scripts in the library.
