Date Night Ideas for You and Your Boo This Halloween

With Halloween around the corner, it is no surprise that people are getting an early start on their candy purchases at their local pharmacy and browsing through the aisles at Spirit Halloween for their next best costume. What adds even more fun to Halloween is being able to celebrate with a significant other. Whether you’re collaborating on a costume together or planning a fun activity, this holiday offers a lot of opportunities for you to bond with your partner.

When asked about upcoming plans for Halloween with her boyfriend, Halloween enthusiast Amanda Hayman said, “Since we are both into cosplay, we try to make really fun costumes. We normally do couples costumes based on movies and TV shows we both watch.” Not only do couples costumes make for spooktacular Instagram posts, they give you an opportunity to plan this fun collaboration weeks in advance. Halloween costumes do not have to break the bank either. When it comes down to Mariel DePalma and her girlfriend choosing a costume, she says, “if we can get away with a costume based off of clothes we already have or even a DIY piece we will go by that.”

Halloween brings forth various activities that range from a kid-friendly to an R-rated experience, therefore, couples may differ in their preferences. How should a couple approach this conflict during Halloween season? According to psychologist Dr. Joanne Witkower, the ability to compromise with each other is essential for a relationship. She says, “we’re making a choice of something that both of us can feel the holiday spirit, but also respect the fact that we’re afraid of certain things or we don’t like certain things.” Therefore, if one person prefers to go to a pumpkin patch and the other prefers a haunted house, perhaps chose a location that offers both experiences.

Looking to celebrate Halloween the entire month of October with your boo? For a more exhilarating experience, Bayville Scream Park, an amusement park located in Bayville, New York, has several haunted houses and other Halloween-themed attractions guaranteed to give you a good scare. Ticket prices vary among attractions. For a less frightening experience, Rise of the Jack-O-Lanterns, located at Old Westbury Gardens in Westbury, New York, is an annual event that is popular for its uniquely carved pumpkins. There are over 5,000 carved pumpkins on display this year. This event runs throughout the month of October and is open to all ages.

Whether you prefer a date night at home deciding on what costume to wear or spending an afternoon at an amusement park or pumpkin patch, there are plenty of ways to get into the Halloween spirit. Now is the time to get excited because Halloween is just a few short weeks away!
