Major/minor: Biology with a minor in African Black Caribbean studies.
Career goals: I’m hoping that after Adelphi I get into my dream law school…and eventually become a lawyer. Since I’m a huge goal setter, I’m also hoping to have launch a writing career with my first novel published by the time i’m 25. *fingers crossed*
Netflix Binge: Yikes, I don’t watch Netflix…but I love the show Vikings on the History channel. Team Ivar all the way! Although, I questioned him a lot this past season.
Favorite pick me up movie: Is it weird that a good old fashioned scary movie gets me in the happiest mood? 30 days of nights is my top go to movie when I need some sort of entertainment. I’ve seen it over 100 times, and I’m not even exaggerating.
Favorite Song atm: Ugh I love Cardi B, so i’m going to have to go with Please Me by Bruno Mars and Cardi
Favorite book: I’m such a bookworm so it is very difficult for me to just pick one book, but I’ll go with The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.
Hobbies/Passions: I’m a low-key writer…and occasional artist!
Defining life experience: Coming into Adelphi my parents had it set for me that I would be a Dentist, but I wasn’t so passionate about it. I would sit in my Biology classes hating my life, hating adelphi, and hating everyone. I could not see myself becoming a Dentist. Dentist Liysha did not bring a smile to my face, it made me miserable. It was sophomore year when I finally had the talk with my parents. It started out with me saying…”I hate science, I don’t want a career in the science field. I want to be a Lawyer….and you can’t change my mind.” Surprisingly, there wasn’t much push back, my parents had accepted that I was old enough to know what I wanted to do with my life. I think it was because they didn’t want to waste money for career I wasn’t going to pursue. Now that I get to make my own career decisions, I am so much more content with life.
What are you most proud of yourself for: I’m pretty proud of my entire four years at Adelphi. The girl I was freshman year and the girl I am today are too different girls. The maturity and confidence I gained is mind blowing.
Dream Vacation spot: Denmark, only because I need to channel my inner Viking.
Favorite adelphi spot: UC Fireplace lounge…I honestly don’t know why.
Interesting fact/adelphi story: I use to be a theater junkie….and my first play was Beauty and the Beast. I wanted to play the beast… but they made me a French hat store owner. Still doesn’t sound as cool as playing the beast.
