“Florals? For spring? Ground-breaking.” It is only fitting to start off with possibly the most iconic quote related to spring fashion. Perhaps because Miranda was right in the sense that there is much more to spring than flowers and Easter. The arrival of warmer weather opens the opportunities for fresh ideas and experimentation. It is, after all, much easier to put together a trendy outfit when the danger of freezing is less eminent. Just in case you are still feeling the winter blues and a desperate lack of inspiration, HC is here to give you a little nudge in the right direction (of the nearest shopping centre). Check out the links to Polyvore to find out where you can get all the pieces!

Bombshell in a Bomber

While it is getting warmer, it is still not quite warm enough to abandon outwear altogether. Bombers have been in for at least a couple seasons. Now, however, they are coming to the spotlight in a more sophisticated form with silk textures and embroidery. Whether dressing up a simple jeans-and-tee outfit or dressing down a formal skirt, a silk bomber is always a good choice. Even on a night out (and Kate knows it).

Dress Down

Slip dresses are back, bringing the grungy glam of the 90’s back to the runways, and the streets. Coming along with the trend of “dressing down” more glam pieces for everyday wear, there is something undeniably fresh and unexpected in combining a slip dress with a large hoodie. It also makes the outfit more spring-safe, as we all know how moody the weather can get. Maybe add in tights, just to be extra safe.  The choice of footwear is yours, from the most comfortable trainers, platform flats (which are currently in season) or sleek pointed-toe court shoes.

Flirt with the Flare

Love them or not, the flares are staying, and now they are cropped! This playful combination of an ankle grazer and a flare is perfect for spring since you no longer have to worry about your ankles freezing off and if it rains, the bottoms of your jeans will not get soggy. The best of both worlds, really! While bringing denim into a more sophisticated form, cropped flares maintain the versatility of jeans, so you can throw them on in any context, whether with a band shirt, or a more formal blouse. The choice of footwear is again yours.

Spring scarves

Leaving the heavier knits in winter, neckerchiefs or bandanas are a perfect accessory for spring. They are an easy and effective way to introduce more pattern or colour into an outfit, and they are versatile! These silky square scarves can either be worn around the neck (knot in the front or back), on the head, and look incredibly stylish tied around the handle of a handbag. Because handbags deserve accessories too.
