Christmas Markets in Scotland
As Christmas is fast approaching, Scottish cities are also getting into the holiday spirit by opening up their annual Christmas Markets. As a huge Christmas person, these markets are one of my favourite things of the season! You can walk around and eat some delicious treats while enjoying a steaming hot cup of mulled wine. What is there not to love?!
Scotland has a lot of amazing Christmas markets, and I personally do a trip from Aberdeen to Edinburgh every year just for the market, I don’t even care that it is dead bang exam time. The Christmas market is, and will always be worth it.
I compiled a list of the top 5 Christmas markets in Scotland, so if you are not in the middle of exams and revision, you could even go and visit them all!
Aberdeen Christmas Village
Friday 17 November – Sunday 31 December, Monday – Friday, 12pm – 10pm, Sat – Sun, 10am – 10pm, Broad Street, AB10 1AB
The Christmas Village has moved to Broad Street making it bigger and better than ever!
Edinburgh Christmas Markets
18th November – 6th January 2018, 10am until 10pm, East Princes St Gardens, EH2 2HG
Edinburgh Christmas market is one of the biggest in Scotland, and usually boasts a Christmas tree maze along with many rides and nibbles to try from! Edinburgh as well has expanded this year, all the way up to George Street!
Glasgow Christmas Market
9th November – 22nd December, Mon – Wed 10am – 8pm, Thurs – Sat 10am – 9pm, Sun – 10am – 7pm (bar area closes at 9pm), St Enoch’s Square, Glasgow
This year Glasgow is bringing in stall from around the world, as well as an Urban Market opening on December 3rd!
Glamis Castle Christmas Market
8th, 9th and 10th of December 2017, 10:30am – 5:00pm, Glamis Castle, Angus
This market brings you to best of both worlds – you have a Scottish castle as well as a Christmas market! You just cannot go wrong.
Perth Winter Festival
October 2017 – February 2018
This is a four month long celebration of all things winter, and you can find it all there – a Christmas market, a Gin market, a Chocolate market and just lots more!
So here they are! Now is the time to get your diaries out and start planning so that you can visit them all.
