Movie Conspiracy Fan Theories

WARNING: the following theories may completely change the way that you watch your favourite films, so if you don’t want that to happen, you should stop reading now.

Titanic:

Titanic is the ultimate film to watch if you want to cry over how hot Leo used to be. Every girl has wished that they could have their own Jack Dawson, and all of us were equally raging when Rose didn’t offer Jack to get on that piece of a door with her (especially since there clearly WAS enough room for the two of them). But fan theories have been circulating ever since the film was released, and one of the most shocking ones is that according to some fans, Jack never existed! We see Rose go through some pretty deep emotional battles throughout the film and we see her contemplating suicide, the part where Jack appears. Apparently, Jack is a figure of Rose’s imagination and all the time they spend together is nothing but a hazy daydream. Notice how Jack always seems to appear when Rose wants to escape her fiancé or her mother. Rose is said to have had such deep physiological issues that she believed that Jack was with her the whole time, and thus why she changes her name to Rose Dawson when she is rescued from the icy water. This totally spoils the romantic element of the movie and I choose not to believe it. With that being said, I wouldn’t mind if Jack Dawson appeared in my daydreams, just saying.

Grease:

Grease is another classic film to watch when you need a wee pick-me-up. From the catchy songs to the totally relatable characters, it’s probably one of the best films of all time! But have you ever wondered why Danny and Sandy fly off into the sky at the end of the film? Well, thanks to many fan theories, you may finally have an answer. According to these theories Sandy drowned when her a Danny were frolicking in the sea during their summer romance and the whole film is Sandy having a musical fantasy due to the lack of oxygen in her brain. Remember when Danny sang “I saved her life, she nearly drowned,” during Summer Nights?? Sandy is fantasysing about how her life could have turned out if she hadn’t drowned, if Danny did save her life. The ending of the film is said to represent Sandy flying up to heaven with Danny. This theory puts a real downer on what is an upbeat and amazing musical, and whether you chose to believe it or not is completely up to you, but I don’t think I’ll be able to watch Grease the same way again.

Peter Pan:

Whether you watched the classic Disney animation or the 2003 live action film with Jeremy Sumpter playing Peter (I used to fancy him so much), Peter Pan is the classic story about the boy who never grew up. J.M Barrie’s story is globally well known but this theory behind what Peter and Neverland represents will honestly reduce you to tears. Neverland, named such because you never grow up there, represents Heaven and Peter and the Lost Boys are children who died, and therefore will never grow up. Peter is said to have taken Wendy and her brothers to Neverland to show them everything they would be missing out on if they don’t grow up. We see how this works when Wendy becomes tired of Peter’s childish games and realises how naive she has been and she just wants to go home.  Although we see Peter as a stubborn character, subconsciously he wants Wendy to have everything he will never have. This one honestly breaks my heart.

These are just a few of the conspiracy theories that interested me the most, but a quick search on Google will lead you to pages upon pages of different fan theories that will change the way you watch most of the best known films.
