It’s that time of year again, when we’re all panicking about gifts to buy for our dearest mums. The people who know you best seem to be the people you know the least when it comes to present purchasing! Here are a few ideas to send you looking in the right direction…even if it is just a few days before Christmas!

Whether your parents are the traditional type or the not so traditional, there are options out there for all budgets!

First up…

1.    FLOWERS

Buy your mum a vase and some flowers to go with it. Think John Lewis or Debenhams for for the vase (or TK Maxx for a lower budget!) and grab some Christmas Roses from your local supermarket or florist to fill it! Let’s start Christmas off making your home look pretty! This is a really easy last minute gift which Mums are bound to love and admire.

2.    CANDLES

Maybe flowers aren’t her thing, and she is more into decorating the house with candles. You can never go wrong with candles. Options always include Yankee candles, and Imperial candles are fantastic too! Again TK Maxx has a fantastic range of beautiful looking candles and for Yankee Candles – our top tip is to go to Asda! They have some great Yankee simply home versions which are quite a few quid less than you can buy them elsewhere!

3.    BATH GOODIES

The house smells nice now with that candle burning, how about giving your mum some goodies to pamper herself with? Bath bombs and body lotion never go down badly. (And a bonus if you buy it in Boots you can save those points to treat yo self!) Boots and Superdrug always have great gift set options at this time of year, but if your Mum is a bit more trendy or into non-animal tested cosmetics – then a Lush Christmas Box is also a great option.

4.  HANDBAGS

Have you ever met a woman who doesn’t like handbags? No, me neither! This is a definite option! TK Maxx is always good for a designer bargain that won’t break the bank. M&S also always has great quality bags when you’ve got that little more of a budget.

5.    WINE GLASS CHARMS

With the festive period entailing many evenings entertaining guests, maybe your mum would appreciate some wine glass charms so all her guests can distinguish their glass from others (when it’s not in hand..). Amazon has some nice ones, or if you’re crafty you could make them yourself (or if not, it’s the thought that counts huh?) Local independent store Juniper in Aberdeen also has some lovely wine charms which your entertainer Mum will love to show off at her dinner parties.

6.  VOUCHERS

If you’re struggling to think of something specific or for that you know your mum will LOVE, get yourself down to a shopping centre, buy her a voucher for her favourite shop and let her do the choosing! (LIFE = EASY) What Mum doesn’t like an excuse to shop?

7.    SPA DAY

Talking of vouchers, who doesn’t love a spa day?! Head to your nearest spa and get your mum all booked in for a day’s pampering! She is guaranteed to love it. You could either go local for a few pampering hours at your local PURE Spa or go all out and take her away for a weekend of luxury at Spa Hotels such as Ardoe House Hotel.

8.   AFTERNOON TEA

If you want in on the present action, think afternoon tea! Cakes, bubbles and an excuse to get dressed up! Regardless of where you live there are numerous options and it’s a great excuse to spend some quality time with Mum in the wind down for Christmas. There are normally some great deals on Groupon and hotels in Aberdeen such as The Carmelite and the Rox often have some great offers.

9. CHRISTMAS HAMPER

You can never go wrong with wrapping up some of your Mum’s favourite treats and making her a Christmas hamper. Or if you don’t fancy doing it yourself – you can always buy Christmas hampers from retailers such as M&S.

10.    JEWELLERY

Last but by no means least, JEWELLERY. A safe bet when you are stuck for ideas. You can find something to suit all budgets and to make your Mum feel special. Department stores often have a great range of jewellery or you could pop into a small independent store to pick up something truly unique.

All these present ideas can easily and quickly be purchased on your local highstreet so don’t fret if you’re last minute – we got your back!
