HCAU Reviews: La La Land!
On the 13th January 2017 the highly anticipated movie La La Land was released to UK cinemas. Having broken the record for the most Golden Globe awards taken home by one film, and having a budget of about $30 million, I had high expectations that that this movie would be great. Ryan Gosling is also the main actor, and what is not to love about that?!
Set in Los Angeles the musical tells the love story of Mia, played by Emma stone, and Sebastian, played by Ryan Gosling. Mia is an aspiring actress who is struggling to land her lucky break, while Sebastian is a Jazz pianist who is unable to use his passion to make money. The movie focuses on the evolution of the relationship between Mia and Sebastian, and the happiness and sacrifices that they experience while also perusing their dreams. Will the dreams that they have worked so hard to achieve rip them apart?
Anyone looking for an exciting move that pays homage to classic musicals such as Singin’ in the Rain should definitely go and watch this film!
