Five Winter Skin Essentials

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Aberdeen chapter.

1. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula: This body lotion is an all time favourite of mine and has been for years. It is rich, moisturising and soaks into the skin right away without leaving that sticky, greasy feel AND it smells like chocolate –what is not to love.

2. YES to Tomatoes Daily Balancing Moisturiser: In the winter my skin turns into more of a combination type and this face moisturiser creates a perfect balance. As I am constantly in transit between the cold air and the heated rooms my skin yearns for an extra bit of attention and this stuff leaves skin feeling moisturised and fresh, with no unwanted shine.

3. Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser: I use this as a toner after my moisturiser and it has changed the texture of my skin drastically! It has a lovely tingly sensation and leaves the skin feeling soft and ready for a smooth make-up application.

4. PAWPAW. Moisturising Balm: Forget all your other lip treatment and say hello to PAWPAW. This papaya based lip salve will solve all your wintery chapped lip issues even after the first application!

5. Origins Charcoal Mask: A go-to mask is definitely a winter essential and with all this temperature change going on at this time of the year, a truly nourishing mask from Origins leaves skin feeling repaired and cared for. Apply once a week or even once every two weeks, and this charcoal mask will tackle all those winter blemishes and protect against those harsh windy chills.

Bonus! For these cold, wintery nights a good ol’ night-time cream is a must have! Something a little heavier than your daytime moisturiser will ensure that over the night you can wake up and feel refreshed and ready for your daytime routine. One of my all-time favourites is the Kiehl’s Crème D’Elegance Repairateur – it works wonders.
