Campus Style Icon – Rosalind Main

Name : Rosalind Main

Degree: BA in Three Dimensional Design

University: Gray’s School of Art

This Week Her Campus caught up with the beautiful and fashion inspirational Rosalind Main. Rosalind Main is a third year student studying three dimensional design at Grays School of Art. We spotted her great style at the 50 years in colour exhibition at the Aberdeen Art Gallery earlier this semester. Since then we have had to just ask her questions on what inspires her great style and modelling career.

This ensemble is a great classic! You can never go wrong with this classic Breton inspired style. This style was introduced in 1853 as the uniform for the navy and then took on by the one and only Coco Chanel. She just loved those stripes! And we at Her Campus are glad she did as she has made being fashionably casual just plain easy for us. The striped long sleeved top is from Primark and the Black high wasted mom jeans are from Topshop. I asked what her inspiration was for this style and she stated ‘The stripes with mom jeans is inspired from a classic striped and black jean combo … just can’t go wrong with it’. Too true it’s a great look and never seems to ever go out of fashion!

G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S. The gold and black playsuit with the denim combo is to die for. Love the jazz age and 80’s arrangement here. Both items of clothing are from Topshop…Where would we be without that store… just love that Topshop. The gorgeous Miss Main states that ‘what’s inspired my ‘gold and black playsuit’ outfit was the 1920’s inspired colours… like ‘Great Gatsby’ and of course the current Wintery season. Why not clash great Gatsby with a little bit of Greece lightening attitude this year. This splash of different decade wear is a great idea and Rosalind Main really makes it work within the current fashion scene.

Miss Main is bringing back the 80’s with this charming ensemble. It just oozes personality. The Aztec patterned Top is from Urban Outfitters and the black Joni Jeans are from Topshop. Love the scrunchie look with this outfit… just adds that little extra. What a Great outfit choice for Campus Style!

This final piece was inspired by from the textures and fabrics Rosalind is interested in. Well she’s got it right as velvet is very popular at this time of year. The colour of the velvet is great… simple but very noticeable!

So what inspired you for all of these outfits?

‘The brands and people who inspire me when it comes to style are those involved in recycling the vintage. Also, I love combining it with the more contemporary fashions of today. I look at popular fashion stores ‘look books’ to find ideas and ways to make my outfits just a little bit more unique.’

Finally, we asked Miss Main what interested her in doing modelling on the side?

‘I’ve been modelling since I was 15 years old and I have taken part in lots of different events from fashion shows to hair photo shoots. I enjoy fashion modelling as it is something I am passionate about and I plan to do more in the future.’
