It’s a new term which means only one thing; HC are back and it’s time for a new Campus Cutie! And who better than our very own Miss Lauren Henderson to start the proceedings and raise the bar for our future cuties.
Lauren is a Wonderwoman. As HC Aberdeen’s treasurer this year she has a lot of responsibility on her hands- imagine lecturing people about money/ spreadsheets and backdating accounts whilst still looking effortlessly cool. Not an easy job.
But seriously, this girl knows how to look after our cash dolla.
The law student who knows how to balance the ‘girls just wanna have fun’ lifestyle with ‘girls just also wanna be sensible and pass exams too’ really won a place on our girl-crush list last year. Any girl who can down a glass of wine in one gulp has a special place in our hearts. (Please drink responsibly!)
You possibly know her from some of her hard hitting HC features written last semester (http://www.hercampus.com/school/aberdeen/smearforsmear), or as the Hockey club’s No.1 girl (biased view) but let us present a little insight into the life of LH.
HC: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
LH: I think the best piece of advice I’ve ever received would be “you can’t please everyone”. You could be best apple in the world, but there is always going to be someone that doesn’t like apples…
HC: We couldn’t agree more. (Insert joke about Pink Ladies being everyone’s favourite apple.) Why did you decide to join the Hockey Club at University?
LH: I decided to take up hockey because I’d played at school and I really didn’t fancy trying to learn a new sport. After going to my first social, I really couldn’t think of anything more than spending the next 4 years downing VKs. Plus, road trips are a great day out and you get to spend it with your friends. <3
HC: CUTE. What’s your favourite thing about being an Aberdeen student?
LH: I think my favourite thing about being an Aberdeen student is the fact that the campus is so old in some parts but the library is new. A good mix of the old and the new.
HC: We love that side to Aberdeen too. Which movie character best describes your personality?
LH: Elle from Legally Blonde… obviously… #savethewhales (Backstory: Lauren is a full-time whale activist who can regularly be found preaching about the dreadful living conditions of whales in aquariums around the world.) I’m mainly only her in the lawyer sense though, so perhaps someone like Anne Hathaway from Princess Diaries due to my extreme clumsiness.
HC: And finally tell us an embarrassing moment…?
LH: I’ve done it many times but when I’m drunk I have a dreadful habit of going around the smoking area in a club and telling people that “smoking kills.” Everyone hates that girl…
