Campus Cutie – Miss Alice McClellan!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Aberdeen chapter.

This week Her Campus caught up with the cheeriest girl on campus, Alice McClellan. The Morningside girl studies German and International Relations and is currently in third year, after spending a year abroad in the beautiful city of Vienna. All of us at HC are very jealous!

To start we asked Alice to recommend her favourite places in the Austrian city, you know in case a rich man ever decides to take us there. She responded by urging us to go to Schönbrunn Palace as it is absolutely beautiful and the gardens are so pretty. She shares a memory of “visiting the palace to see the Vienna Philharmonic play in an open air concert with fireworks. It was fabulous!” Something which is very important to know about Alice, is that her favourite word is fabulous and she has a great optimistic outlook on life that we all admire and hope to emulate as well!

Secondly she would insist that every traveller in Vienna visits The Vienna Concert House, “I got the chance to play there a few times with the Vienna university orchestra, it’s stunning, so many chandeliers!” Finally, she would recommend “The Danube and the Danube island were amazing in Summer, it gets to 30-40° in Vienna so we did a lot of sunbathing and swimming. Also, it’s fantastic at night for a cheeky drunken skinny dip!” Yes, very cheeky Miss McClellan!

After this we asked Alice if she would like to live in Vienna after finishing her degree and we discovered that Innsbruck would be her ideal city. “It’s quite small and very pretty with quite a student-y atmosphere. It’s not too far from gorgeous mountains that would be perfect for skiing! Not that I ski but I could definitely learn…”

Alice is known for being able to juggle study commitments with being a dedicated member of the Netball team, with high hopes of being the club captain next year. Attention all Netball girls, hopefully some of you will be reading this and vote for Alice! We asked her why she decided to become a member of a University Sport team and she replied with, “I’ve played netball almost all my life so whatever kind of club it was, I was going to join! I was really lucky that I met some of my best friends playing netball.” Cutie.

In her professional career she hopes to move to Spain to learn Spanish and hopefully work as a translator. International career dreams that we at Her Campus know she’ll accomplish… Fabulous!
