Campus Cutie: Millie Jones!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Aberdeen chapter.

When I sat down with this week’s campus cutie I only had to stumble a few steps before I landed at her door. My flatmate and soul sister just happens to be the delectable Amelia Jones, sister to a superstar and lover of all things chocolate covered. Miss Jones managed to squeeze me in to a rare open slot in her packed schedule so you could all get to know her a little better…

Fourth year Law student and gym bunny extraordinaire, Millie has an incredibly close bond with her family and says “we’re always there for each other, I can always rely on them to support me… I loved growing up with a brother, and now that he’s older we’re really close.”  She definitely relied on their support while she was applying for traineeships, and when she accepted an offer from Stronachs last year her family was over the moon. “Getting the traineeship was probably my greatest accomplishment, it felt like a weight off my shoulders”, as someone who has lived with Mills for four years I can personally say that her traineeship was the perfect reward for her consistent hard work and dedication to her degree. When she’s not hitting the books, Millie is a die hard LiqWed fan and can always be found cutting some serious shapes on the cheesy room dance floor! As we all know, the Liquid dance floor can be a breeding ground for gentlemen of a, shall we say, creepier disposition, so I asked how Millie managed to escape: “I just shimmy away. Kind of like a jellyfish.” Well… Okay then. Moving on.

Knowing Mills is a romantic at heart, I wanted to know what her idea of a perfect date would be, her answer certainly didn’t disappoint! “I’d love for someone to just whisk me away! We would go for dinner on a gorgeous yacht or to Italy. I think that would be so romantic!” While the gorgeous Amelia has never been short of admirers, she is definitely off the market – sorry lads. Her boyfriend, Carry Chen was the president of the Law Society and is currently working in Edinburgh. Of course I asked her to give us some goss about their relationship, asking about romantical moments and how they first met; “I first met Carry at the Aberdeen Uni Law School open day, he was the second year rep. He doesn’t remember me, but I met him again at the freshers fayre and again at a couple of LawSoc events before we started officially dating… He is really romantic; he always wants to surprise me. He’ll take me out for dinner and I never know where we’re going, and I like that. He’s so spontaneous!” It sounds like Mr Chen knows what he’s doing, as this cutie is certainly smitten!

Everybody who knows Millie knows that she’s a planner. Every activity is planned, scheduled and written in her ever-present diary, so when I asked her what she would do if she had a year to herself, to do whatever she wanted with no consequences and carte blanche, its no surprise that she took a minute to respond… “Hmmm… I’d quite like to be the prime minister. Oh no! I’d rather be the queen. I’d like to know what she does all day. I could buy loads of corgis.” Watch out HRH! If she had all the money in the world, Millie knows exactly what she’d spend it on first: “I’d buy a car, a Mercedes SLK, it’s my dream car. I’d definitely buy a yacht and take all my friends on an amazing holiday!” After a little (read: a lot) of prodding, Millie later agreed to buy me a million pugs as well. Good guy Millie.

Sadly her dream of usurping the queen doesn’t look like it’ll come true this year, so I asked Mills what she was looking forward to instead: “I’d say graduating, but I’m nervous about that as well, but I can’t wait for my grad holiday! Looking forward to hopefully learning to drive, starting my diploma year, oh and graduating with a first… fingers crossed!” Once she leaves uni, Millie hopes to work in London as an in house lawyer in a big firm. Seems she’s planning to get one step closer to number 10 / Buckingham Palace eh? She’s not got us fooled!

To finish the interview I decided to throw Mills in to a quick fire round of questions:

RHQ: Pet hate

MJ: People who are always on their phones at dinner or when you’re speaking to them. It drives me mad!

RHQ: Guilty pleasure

MJ: Listening to club beats [readers: as her flatmate I can attest to this, Millie is worryingly obsessed with Pitbull…] or dipping chocolate in a hot choc!

RHQ: Three worsds to describe yourself?

MJ: Trustworthy… oh god I need to check my CV… emmm… active? Hilarious?

RHQ: Fave pickup line?

MJ: “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven”

RHQ: Biggest fear?

MJ: Failure. Or falling over in public.

RHQ: If you could be any animal, what would you be?

MJ: I want to say a horse, but not one that gets sent to war.

After that dizzying insight into the world of Aberdeen’s most organized twenty-one year old, our interview was over. We at Her Campus have no doubt that Miss Jones will go far in life, so keep your eyes peeled for her in the Liquid queue while she’s still around!
