Next in the saga of Lauren’s cutest friends, we have Accounting and Finance super star Colette Cumming! Colette is 20 years old and is currently in her third year. Colette is the queen of multi-tasking and is known for her long nights in the library and hundreds of mind maps. In her spare time, Colette plays hockey, piano and a sneaky little fun fact – Colette actually sings at weddings (bookings now accepted). Our favourite thing about this down to earth gal is the way she turns up to the library with no less then 3 bags every time we see her and never fails to make us laugh so we thought it was about time you get to know her too!
HC: For those that do not know (although, pretty sure we all know this one), Colette did a gap year. What was that like?
CC: I went to Kenya for 4 months and volunteered in a home for abused children. It has been the most inspiring thing I have ever done! I taught a class of children who had never been to school and were not even at the level of Scottish primary ones! I taught from 9-1 each day and then in the afternoon we just played with the children. I got to experience so much from this, I sat in one of the children’s out case and I even rescued some of the children twice, in which I travelled 8 hours to get them!
HC: Wow, Colette! That’s pretty harrowing stuff. What is your biggest dream?
CC: My biggest dream would be to use my accounting degree to save all the needy children in Scotland (and even the world) and set up a home for them!
HC: That’s so sweet! What is it like having two sisters?
CC: I love having two sisters! I am the middle one and sadly am subject to middle child syndrome (it definitely does exist). I am very close with both my sisters and live with Kirsten up here in Aberdeen. I would say I am equally close to both Kirsten and Jennifer though. We used to be very competitive when we were younger but we aren’t as bad now, we do sometimes have some competitive banter though. But it’s great because we can also share each other’s clothes and make-up!
