Campus Cutie: Bailey the Puppy

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Aberdeen chapter.

Have you ever heard the expression “it’s a dogs life”? It means that your life is hard or unpleasant, BUT after spending a week in the company of a gorgeous little pooch, I’m writing a strongly worded email to whoever concocted such a ridiculous saying. A dog’s life – or more specifically a puppy’s life – is one full of glorious snuggles, warm naps, free food and absolutely no deadlines. I mean, when was the last time you saw a dog with a hangover? Exactly.

This week’s campus cutie is none other than Bailey the puppy. He was my constant and loving companion for a week thanks to Borrow My Doggy. A ball of energy wrapped up in a warm, fluffy exterior, Bailey was a hit at the Her Campus bake sale! He’s quite the flirt you know… He was passed from girl to girl and petted by tourists, rugby players and more than his fair share of hungover party goers. Luckily for Her Campus, I managed to sneak in an exclusive interview with the man of the moment…

HC: Bailey, ohmygosh hi! I can’t believe I’m getting to interview you, you’re like sooooo famous!

Bailey: *polite laugh* thank you so much! It’s been quite a whirlwind I must say – who knew girls loved puppies?!

HC: Yeah, who knew… Anyway let’s get down to business. How are you liking being an honourary member of the Her Campus Aberdeen team?

Bailey: Oh you gals are swell! You’ve been so nice to me. I’ve never been kissed or cuddled so much in my life, it’s a total ego boost lemme tell ya!

HC: So you’re from borrowmydoggy.com, how do you feel about being signed up to that site? I know a lot of people think it’s not great to send little tiny incy wincy puppies like you off to complete strangers.

Bailey: Less of the incy wincy thank you very much!! Ahem, anyway, Borrow My Doggy is a great site, and I love it! It’s totally safe and it saves me being stuck in the house all day while mum is at work. Plus I get all the love and affection I could possibly want! It’s great to have new playmates whenever I want them and even better that there’s always someone to take me on a walk during the day! There’s only so many times a guy can chase his tail y’know.

HC: Could tell us a little bit about Borrow My Doggy works please?

Bailey: Of course! Borrow My Doggy does what it says on the tin. Basically you create a profile either for your dog or as a human. If you’re making a human profile then you have to explain why you want to look after someone else’s dog; you say whether you’ve had any experience or not, what your availability is and if you’ve got any dogs of your own. It’s really easy, even humans can do it. If you’re making a profile for your doggy, it’s pretty much the same idea. You write a little bit about him or her and if they need exercise, extra love or grooming, that kind of thing. I hate getting a bath so be warned, just because it says the dog needs groomed that doesn’t mean we like it. Then once you’ve picked your favourite selfie, your profile can be seen on the site. There are bagillions of pups on borrowmydoggy.com, so it’s narrowed down by postcode so that only people in your area can see you. It’s pretty great actually. Humans message humans – my paws make typing quite tricky you see – and you can arrange a welcome woof where you meet each other and the dogs can meet their new friends! If everybody gets along then the humans schedule some pawsome playdates or sleepovers!

HC: Sounds super! I bet we’ll have loads of Her Campus readers signing up! Now, I’ve got some nitty gritty questions for you Bails. You ready?

Bailey: Born ready, babe.

HC: Okay doke, what’s the best part of being a dog?

Bailey: Four paws, obv! Have you seen me run? I’m a freakin’ speed machine!

HC:  What’s your favourite food?

Bailey: Well it’s not kibble lemme tell ya. Mum bought me this stuff from the vet which has all the vitimins and good stuff in it that I need, and it’s alright I suppose, but my real favourite thing is peanut butter or Marks and Spencer’s chicken! *drools*

HC: Golly you’re making our tummies rumble! One last question, and then lunch… What do puppies dream of when they have a little puppy snooze?

Bailey: Food mostly, but also leaves… I love leaves. I LOVE LEAVES SO MUCH OH MY GOODNESS LEAVES!!!!!!!

HC: Riiiiiiiiiiiight, okay. Well good talk Bailey. Thanks so much for doing this interview for us! Your definitely our cutest cutie ever!

Bailey: Well, duh. I’ve got a mirror. Seriousl though, thanks so much for interviewing me. I’m going to print this out and take it to the park with me on my next walk. As if this face wasn’t enough to attract the ladies…

Well I think we can all agree that Bailey is the best puppy (and cutie) in the world! If you want your own slice of puppy lovin’ then head on over to Borrow My Doggy and make up a profile. I promise you – it’s totally worth it if only for the snuggles!
