I Tried Starbucks Cloud Macchiato and I Was Underwhelmed

As a Starbucks gold member since 2012, (thank you very much) and a lover of iced Caramel Macchiatos — I’d say it’s in my Starbs top five — I ventured to the coffee shop as soon as I heard news about its latest drink, the Cloud Macchiato, released earlier this week. I was expecting a dreamy cloud-like beverage, but all I got was a sad froth rimmed expresso drink.

I’m a light ice kind of girl — big fan of iced drinks, not so much for watered down— so I stopped at Starbucks on my way into work for a grande light ice Cloud Caramel Macchiato, and it wasn’t totally what I was expecting. Maybe it’s because I got light ice, or maybe it was such a new drink that the barista who made it still hadn’t perfected the froth. Regardless, if you handed me the drink and told me to guess what it was I would have said a regular old Caramel Macchiato.

Listen, the drink was not bad by any means — a Caramel Macchiato is always a good idea as far as I’m concerned. But, I the “cloud” aspect I was promised wasn’t entirely there. Then again, what’s a cloud supposed to taste like?

Try it yourself, especially if you are a Caramel Macchiato fan in general. And, if you need me, I’ll be looking for the Starbucks that makes the best Cloud Macchiato around to really put me on ~cloud nine~.
