There are few things in this world that are better than a new Starbucks drink, and the latest Starbucks creation will have you floating on cloud nine. Literally and figuratively. Starbucks’ new Cloud Macchiato is straight-up dreamy and delicious. (Oh, and did I mention that the new crafted creation is Ariana Grande approved?)
According to a press release from Starbucks on Tuesday, the coffee giant debuted the Cloud Macchiato, a silky, frothy drink that features cold milk foam.
“Featuring a cloud of cold milk foam that’s light and smooth, topped with espresso shots and finished with signature caramel drizzle cross-hatch, Cloud Macchiato is silky, exhilarating, and will jumpstart your taste buds and take your afternoon by storm,” Starbucks wrote.
I had the opportunity to try out the Cloud Macchiato today, and let me tell you it is absolutely delicious. I am already obsessed with this new drink.
The drink comes in two flavors: caramel and cinnamon. I opted for the caramel one and got my drink iced.
The foam, or “cloud,” on top was frothy and sweet, and since it’s lightly flavored with vanilla, it made the perfect pairing with the espresso base. The cloudy layer, which, according to Brit + Co, is created by whipping a powdered egg white substance into the milk, creates a dreamy and creamy whipped topping that just melts in your mouth.
By the time I got to the end of my drink, I was craving more of the cloud topping.
The drink also comes in a cinnamon version, which I tried as well, but as a hot drink. (Honestly, though, the iced version is where it’s at.)
It starts with the same espresso base topped with the cloud foam, but this foam is flavored with cinnamon and has a hint of lemon. The citrus flavor is subtle, but blends nicely with the deeper notes of the espresso. The drink also features the same caramel crosshatch as the caramel version, but has a dash of cinnamon on top.
And in case you were wondering why Ariana Grande was tweeting out a bunch of clouds on social media lately, it was because of the new Cloud Macchiato.

Grande posted photos Tuesday on social media of her wearing a Starbucks apron and sipping the latest Starbucks creation. And it looks like she is a #StarbucksAmbassador. Also, Business Insider reported that the coffee company will be releasing a Grande-only playlist this week, which will be totally perfect to chill out to while drinking the Cloud Macchiato.
So if you haven’t already, I highly recommend trying out Starbucks’ new Cloud Macchiato. It will definitely leave you floating on cloud nine. And since it’s Ariana Grande approved, make sure to get a Grande. (Sorry, I just had to.)
