One of my favorite family traditions is our annual arts and crafts night, where we fill the kitchen with art supplies and blast holiday tunes for hours on end. From painting Christmas tree ornaments to decorating DIY coffee mugs, we love discovering cute, crafting gifts we can create with simple items from around the house.
It’s obviously more difficult to host an in-person craft night with your family or BFFs this year. However, you can still get crafty with your crew this season, by hosting a virtual event or sending an artsy themed gift package! To help you get started, we’ve put together a list of fun (and affordable!) items for all of your crafty friends, and while you’re at it, why not pick up a few for yourself, too.
- Colorful markers
Whether she’s a calligraphy pro or can barely draw a straight line (no judgment), a bright brush tip marker will be perfect for your friend who dreams of hand-lettering. If you want to experiment yourself but have no idea where to start, check out these beginner hand-lettering tips from Sharpie — you’ll create a masterpiece in no time.

- A sleek coffee mug
We all have that one friend who can’t stop buying lattes (okay, it’s me). This white porcelain mug is awesome for your caffeine-loving friends who love a simple DIY project without the mess. If you’re experimenting at home, grab a permanent marker and personalize your mug with your name, favorite quote, or a fun design. To make the design permanent, you simply bake the mug in your oven. Cool, right?! This one’s safe up to 350°F!
