FYI, Conspiracy Theory Night Is The New PowerPoint Party

The PowerPoint party has been a trend on social media for a few years now, and essentially it is a night where everyone in the group comes to the party with a presentation made about literally any topic in the world. The PowerPoints can be anything that you’ve ever wanted to talk about, from “guessing who in the friend group reposted this TikTok” to “who the real villain is in pop culture love triangles.” But now, there’s a new theme party in town for everyone who loves PowerPoint night but wishes they could get — dare I say it — even more unhinged. It’s called the conspiracy theory night.

Essentially, the format for this one is the exact same as the original PowerPoint night, except there is a general uniting theme: All of the presentations have to be about a conspiracy theory. A conspiracy theory is an idea that explains an event or circumstances as the result of a secret ploy, normally by powerful conspirators. These theories tend to be pretty outlandish and hard to believe, but also extremely entertaining, hence the idea to spend an entire night hearing and talking about them.

Creator @fia_ob did the conspiracy theory night with her friend group and the video went super viral on TikTok, which made the idea super popular and inspired people to throw their own conspiracy theory night.

There really aren’t any rules for conspiracy theory night, aside from the fact that your presentations all need to be about a conspiracy theory. You could each focus on your own and make presentations deep-diving into each one, or you could make some presentations ranking your favorite conspiracy theories, or ranking them least to most believable. The sky is the limit, and of course, there are so many wacky conspiracy theories to choose from. It’s even fun to scroll the internet to try and find a topic you’ve never heard of, because some of them are so out there it’s hard to even wrap your head around.

To make it even more fun, you could also add some themed X-factors to the night. A tinfoil hat (because there’s a conspiracy theory that tinfoil will protect them from an alien abduction) is a great accessory, and super funny if everyone is wearing them. You could also have everyone create and bring some funny snacks or drinks related to their conspiracy theories, and create a table spread of everything that gets brought.

So, if you’re looking for a fun night in with your friends that is sure to be full of laughter, and maybe even some deep thoughts, get yourself onto conspiracy theory TikTok and get working on that PowerPoint!
