The NBA Finals are here, featuring a major showdown between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs. And while that is exciting enough on its own, Chipotle is here to celebrate the occasion with its new “53 Years, 53 Real Ingredients” campaign that’s rewarding fans nationwide with 53,000 free burritos following the championship series. So, whether you’re a basketball fanatic or just a fan of a good deal, Chipotle has you covered.
To get your hands on one of these free burritos, here’s the game plan: Immediately following the final game of the NBA championship (depending on what team wins each game, that could be on June 10, June 13, June 13, or June 16), Chipotle will post a text-to-win code on X. Find that code and text it to 888-222 and see if you are one of the lucky 53,000. It’s that simple!
Now, you might be thinking, “This is great and all, but why 53? I mean, no one celebrates 53rd anniversaries.” Well, not only has it been 53 years since the Knicks won their last championship, but it has also been 53 years since the Spurs’ basketball journey began back in 1973. So, 53 is kind of a big deal for both teams this year!
Of course, there’s a Chipotle tie-in too. “This year’s series created a connection we couldn’t ignore: 53 years tied to a unique championship storyline and 53 real ingredients that define Chipotle,” said Stephanie Perdue, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing at Chipotle, in a press release. “Giving away 53,000 free burritos is our way of bringing that story to life for fans.”
If you miss your window for a free burrito, have no fear! Chipotle is offering another way to celebrate with its “Time For Real” advertising campaign, starring Team Chipotle athletes and all-around Chipotle superfans Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges, who both play for the Knicks. (These guys are staying booked and busy.)
The brand-new “Time For Real” ad will air during the second game of the 2026 men’s professional basketball championship on June 5, which may not sound super exciting, but this ad brings with it two new, limited-edition high-protein meals: Josh Hart’s High Protein Burrito, which is packed with white rice, double adobo chicken, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, sour cream, and cheese (95g of protein); or Mikal Bridges’ High Protein Bowl, which is filled to the brim with white rice, double adobo chicken, tomatillo-green chili salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, and lettuce (71g of protein). Yum!
