10 Goals All Girls Should Have in College

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Setting goals is extremely important in college and in your 20s. It’s great to have ideas about what you want to do and where you want to be during these years. We’ve partnered with the #ActuallySheCan movement to put together a list of 10 goals all collegiettes should have to help start achieving their dreams!

1. Maintain relationships with women who inspire you.

Building healthy relationships with women who inspire you will benefit both of you. It’s great to have someone you can look up to, ask for advice, and help you become a better person. By staying in contact with these women, you’ll feel better about yourself and be on your way to a more fulfilling life. Who runs the world? Girls.

2. Don’t apologize for your success.

If you’re a #girlboss, own it! There’s no reason to apologize for being successful in life. Everyone has her own path, and you’re not doing anything wrong by continuing along yours. Keep climbing, collegiettes!

3. Enjoy being single.

Being single isn’t the end of the world. It’s actually far from it! Learn to enjoy spending time on your own and with friends without having to worry about a significant other in the picture. The best part: you can dance uncontrollably to “Single Ladies.”

4. Only date people who support your values.

Don’t date someone who doesn’t accept you for who you are. If family is the most important thing to you, your partner should understand that! Find someone who has similar values to you and fully supports what you believe in. Relationships need to be about respect.

5. Take more risks and don’t second-guess yourself.

Thinking about wearing that new jumpsuit to class? Want to go skydiving? Do it! Life is too short to second-guess yourself. Be bold, take risks and be yourself. Think you can’t do it? Actually, you CAN!

6. Challenge yourself academically – outside of your academic requirements.

Take on an extra assignment, watch a documentary, or read a book just for fun once a month. You’ll be surprised how rewarding it is to learn something new, especially when it interests you! Take that list of books you’ve never read and cross one off every month. You’ll feel great accomplishing something that you’ve always wanted to do. Look for challenges in new places, like the Actually 500 Words Can Writing Contest

7. Take a class in a subject you know nothing about.

Sometimes we get sucked into our majors and forget what else is out there! Take a class in something way out of your comfort zone. You never know what you may end up loving! You could be presented with an amazing opportunity—all you have to do is take the first step.

8. Take care of yourself and wellbeing.

Staying healthy is important: We often get caught up in the stress of college life and forget to take care of ourselves. Take an exercise class, make a healthy dinner, or go for a nightly walk with a friend. Your mind and body will feel better when you’re taking care of your wellbeing. Check out these events happening around the country this fall—learn all about them here.

9. Realize you CAN handle whatever comes next.

You don’t have to have the perfect plan. Things can and will change! Whatever comes next, you can handle it. This is your life, collegiettes. Whether your plan isn’t exactly perfect, or it just falls apart, realizing that you have the confidence and the support system to help you up when you fall will empower you!

10. Forget the haters.

There are always going to be haters. Forget them! The only person who should be concerned about what you’re doing is you. If there are negative people in your life, weed them out. You should only surround yourself with positive, uplifting people.

With this list and your personal goals, you’ll have an awesome college experience. Work hard, stay confident, and be who you are! Want more inspiration?
