Celebrating Friendsgiving might come with some hurdles besides figuring out the menu, invites, and party ideas — you have to ensure the event actually happens. And if you find yourself struggling to plan your Friendsgiving extravaganza, don’t worry: Bumble BFF is stepping in to help.
The Friendsgiving stress isn’t unique. Research by BFF found that almost 1 out of 4 Gen-Z women wanted to host Friendsgiving, but were unable to make the plans work due to issues like cost or finding space. So, on Oct. 15, BFF announced a new campaign to help young folks across the country host their dream Friendsgiving, whether it be with close friends, co-workers, book club attendees, or even the local pickleball league.
From now through Nov. 5, BFF is introducing a new way to make your Friendsgiving dreams a reality — and for selected winners, they’ll be covering the entire Friendsgiving celebration. And all you need to do is fill out a short form. (Yes, seriously!)
To apply, download the BFF app, make a profile, and follow BFF on Instagram. Then, fill out the form on Bumble’s website. On the form, you will be prompted to share information about your Friendsgiving gathering ideas — whether they be a cozy and intimate dinner, or an all-out rager. Winners will be announced on a rolling basis from Oct. 19 until Nov. 6.Â
From there, selected hosts will have the opportunity to get financial support — starting at $1,000 — from Bumble for hosting their Friendsgiving. These Friendsgiving celebrations will take place in participating cities across the U.S. through the remainder of November.Â
Besides cost and location, there is also the issue of coming up with creative ways to spend your Friendsgiving. So, here is a list of ideas to spice up your Friendsgiving and hopefully inspire your application. Good luck!Â
- Have a potluck.
-
Potlucks are a great chance to share cultural and culinary traditions with your friends. Have everyone bring their own dish to the gathering, and indulge in the various dishes. It also takes the weight off your shoulders for cooking or catering.
- Throw a garden-themed gathering.
-
Go ahead and take your Friendsgiving to the beauty of a garden: Celebrate among the flowers and rose bushes, have garden-related activities (like making flower bouquets or even playing cornhole), and enjoy the fall weather.
- Dress in creative costumes.
-
Friendsgiving and Halloween are around the same season, so why not combine them by throwing a Friendsgiving costume party. Enjoy all the typical Friendsgiving activities, but this time you’re in costume. If you want to make things even more challenging, spruce things up by having a theme like horror or Hollywood.
- Have a flag football game.
-
It’s time to get active. Football is a tried-and-true tradition of Thanksgiving. So, challenge yourself and your friends with flag football. In no time, you’ll find yourself in the heat of the game!
- Host a cocktail tasting competition.
-
A cocktail competition is a great way to explore your friends’ creativity. Gather your friends, and have each of them make creative cocktails. There are so many unique flavors to create, from lavender-infused tequila to a sweet, citrusy rum. Afterwards, have a tasting, and may the best cocktail win!
- Paint and decorate pumpkins.
-
You’ve heard of pumpkin carving, but have you ever painted a pumpkin? Pumpkin painting is the perfect Friendsgiving activity. Gather paint, palettes, paintbrushes, and maybe even a little glitter to decorate your pumpkin canvas.Â
Good luck on your application — and don’t forget to toss me an invite, too!
