The 5 Best Halloween Couple Costumes

Halloween is almost here, and as if figuring out a costume isn’t difficult enough, it just got a little more challenging when there’s a boyfriend in the picture. You definitely want to make a statement, but you don’t want to look like THAT couple. While it’s up to you whether or not you step out in style together, if you do, you’ll want to dress to impress. Here, HC presents to you the top five couple costumes of this year’s Halloween season that are easy to make and will make all the other couples jealous.

For the “life of the party” couple: Sammi and Ronnie

GTL, baby. You’re the couple who knows how to go big or go home, and you want jaws dropping when you enter the room. No couple rocks Miami harder than Sammi and Ronnie, which makes them the perfect couple to mimic. Bring the drama to the party with your own Jersey Shore get-up.

Get Sammi’s look with:

  • Your shortest jean shorts or denim skirt
  • A scandalous top (preferably black)
  • Flip-flops or heels (your pick)
  • Flatiron your hair so it’s stick-straight
  • Pile on the bronzer, mascara, lip-gloss, eye shadow and perfume (use at the least double the amount that you normally apply)
  • Your biggest earrings

Bonus tips: Check out how HC co-founder Windsor dressed for a Jersey Shore party here!

Get Ronnie’s look with:

  • A wife beater, Armani Exchange or Ed Hardy tee, or button down shirt (be sure to leave as many buttons undone as possible)
  • Jeans
  • A long necklace with a gold chain
  • Gelled hair sculpted into a mini-mohawk
  • Sunglasses
  • Bronzer (obviously)

For the “wild” couple: Tarzan and Jane

Warning: this costume ensemble is not for the timid and requires as little clothing as possible. For those who love Disney but don’t want to go as Minnie and Mickey (like everyone else), this duo takes Disney from rated G to PG-13. For putting these costumes together, think animal prints, animal prints, and more animal prints.

Get Jane’s look with:

  • An animal print (like leopard or zebra) bikini top
  • An animal print skirt (to make one, just get some material at your local fabric store and put together a makeshift skirt)
  • Miniature plastic bones to tie in your hair
  • Wear gladiator-style sandals

Get Tarzan’s look with:

  • Make an animal print skirt like you would for yourself, but use extra material to attach a diagonal strap across his chest
  • Leather flipflops or sandals

For the “quirky” couple: Thing 1 and Thing 2

Everybody loves Dr. Seuss, and you’ll love the adorable-ness that is Thing 1 and Thing 2. If you and your BF are goofballs at heart, crack everyone up with these two infamously silly characters—just make sure you don’t wreak too much havoc together!

Get the Thing 1 and Thing 2 look with:

  • Red pants and a red long-sleeved shirt
  • Red mittens
  • A blue wig (or you can spray your hair with washable blue paint)
  • Cut out a white felt circle. Using a black Sharpie, write Thing 1 on your circle and Thing 2 on your boyfriend’s. Attach the circle to the front of your shirt using a safety pin.

For the “cute” couple: Barbie and Ken

Admit it: you’re the couple that everyone wants to be. If you’re a girly girl and he’s a guy’s guy, this couple is your match. You finish each other’s sentences and already have your china patterns picked out. You are Barbie and Ken: own it.

Get Barbie’s look with:

  • PINK everything: heels, mini-skirt, shirt
  • A blonde wig
  • Pink diamond earrings

Get Ken’s look with:

  • Pleated khaki pants
  • Loafers or tennis shoes
  • A polo shirt
  • A cardigan sweater
  • Gelled hair with a side part

For the “adventurous” couple: Mario and Luigi

Everybody needs a partner-in-crime, and what better way to show what a great team you and your boyfriend make than going old-school Super Nintendo 64? He’ll love dressing up as one of his favorite video game characters (even if it was in the fourth grade) and you’ll win brownie points for girlfriend of the year.

Get Mario’s look with:

  • Blue overalls
  • A red long-sleeved shirt
  • A red newsboy cap (use a Sharpie to write an “M” on the front)
  • White gloves
  • A plunger
  • A fake mustache

Get Luigi’s look with:

  • Blue overalls
  • A green long-sleeved shirt
  • A green newsboy cap (use a Sharpie to write an “L” on the front)
  • White gloves
  • A plunger
  • A fake mustache
