Will Emily Go To Greece In ‘Emily In Paris’? Season 5 Ends With A Cliffhanger

Spoiler alert: Spoilers for Emily in Paris Season 5 follow. Emily Cooper has never met a European destination she didn’t like. From her spontaneous mountain getaway to the French Alps to riding around on a Vespa in Rome, Emily in Paris has made one thing clear: Emily will always be somewhere fabulous. And while fans initially thought this season was going to be renamed “Emily in Rome,” a new question is taking its place: is Emily’s next stamp going to be Greece?

If you’re not caught up and don’t want Parisian plot twists spoiled, consider this your cue to grab a croissant and come back later. (Or maybe a cannoli, since the last we saw of Emily in Season 4 was when she was whisked away on a Roman holiday with her oh-so-charming Italian boyfriend, Marcello Muratori.)

In a plot twist that fans didn’t see coming, Emily and Marcello ended their relationship, thankfully on seemingly good terms. (The secondhand embarrassment I felt when Emily panicked at Marcello pulling out Nico’s engagement ring for Mindy is going to haunt me for the remainder of this year.) However, with Gabriel getting some time off from his new gig as a private chef for a yacht owner, it looks like the stars might finally be aligning for him and Emily. And honestly? It’s about time.

Appropriately titled “La Belle Epoque,” Episode 9 brings Emily back to Gabriel, who reveals that he had actually followed her to Rome. (Glad they explained why we spotted him in the first episode.) But when Gabriel expresses that Emily had looked so happy with Marcello and decided to leave them be, it’s clear that Emily has mixed feelings, especially since she’d discovered the ring in Marcello’s bag. And though it initially feels like we’ve bid farewell to Emily and Gabriel for good after he gets back on the train and embarks on his new journey to Greece, the universe had other plans. In a shocking, but very-on-brand move, Sylvie calls Gabriel and informs him that Emily is going back to Paris… and that she broke up with Marcello. Ooh la la!

The season finale wraps up with Gabriel penning a postcard to Emily, just like she’d asked during their lunch date before he left for Greece. The message? Meet me in Greece. So, will Emily go to Greece?

At the time of writing, it’s not confirmed whether or not Emily will actually go to Greece, nor is Emily in Paris Season 6 confirmed. But with the five-year-long slow burn of Emily and Gabriel’s relationship that fans have been forced to endure throughout the show, I’m sure most of us are hoping she does. So whether it’s Paris, Rome, or Santorini, one thing’s for sure: Emily Cooper will always find her way to the drama — preferably with a view.
