DWTS premiered for the first time on ABC in 2005, so you can imagine there’s a long history of relationships. Pros have dated each other, their celebrity partners, and those who have nothing to do with the show. Some relationships have unfolded quietly behind the scenes, while others have unfolded right in front of the cameras (and, of course, on the dance floor). Some have built long-lasting marriages and started families, while others called it quits and went on to date others on the show.

Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy are current DWTS pros, and met on the show when Johnson joined the dance troupe in 2014. Chmerkovskiy was a “known player” at the time, but fans shipped the two nonetheless. Chmerkovskiy and Johnson tied the knot in 2019, and now share a son named Rome.

Daniella Karagach and Pasha Pashkov, also current DWTS pros, started off as strictly competitive dance partners in 2009 and won multiple titles. Their chemistry was, and is still, unmatched. It wasn’t until 2014 that the two married, and they’ve been married since. They also have a daughter, Nikita, whom they welcomed in 2023.

These two had a good friends-to-lovers arc. Emma Slater and Alan Bersten, both current DWTS pros, confirmed their relationship in 2025 with a kiss on stage during the DWTS: Live! Tour. The two are still together, embrace their relationship on camera in the ballroom, and share cute videos on social media.

Before Bersten, Slater was married to pro dancer Sasha Farber from 2018 to 2022. The two met on Broadway in 2009, and dated on-and-off before Farber proposed to Slater live on DWTS in 2016. The two finalized their divorce in 2024.

Farber also dated Mirrorball Champion Sharna Burgess for about several years after they met in 2006. At the time, Burgess and Farber weren’t DWTS pros yet, but were dancing on the Burn The Floor live tour. The two broke up in 2010 — but don’t worry, there’s no bad blood. On the Penthouse With Peta podcast (hosted by DWTS alum Peta Murgatroyd) in May 2026, Burgess called Farber “such a sweet guy” and a “great boyfriend.”

While Hough isn’t a pro at the moment, she did compete on DWTS for four seasons, winning two Mirrorballs back-to-back. (She’s also the host of the show, but you already knew that.) Hough briefly dated Ballas while the two were teenagers, long before either one of them entered the DWTS ballroom. Still, the two remain great friends, with Hough attending Ballas’s wedding to BC Jean in 2006.
