Here’s Why The Internet Believes Cole Sprouse’s ‘Call Her Daddy’ Episode Was Filmed Last Year

By now, I’m sure you’ve seen — or at least heard about — Cole Sprouse’s controversial appearance on Alexandra Cooper’s podcast, Call Her Daddy. On March 8, Sprouse came onto the podcast to talk about growing up as a child star, his past relationships, and his acting career — between taking drags of his cigarette, that is.

While Sprouse made a name for himself in the early 2000s and 2010s as a beloved Disney Channel celebrity, the internet’s reaction to the episode is pretty mixed. Some fans are praising Sprouse for his authenticity and openness, while others are criticizing his remarks regarding his ex-girlfriends, notably his Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart. (Especially on International Women’s Day!) Following its release, internet users were quick to call the episode “cringe” due to Sprouse’s demeanor and his comments on past relationships and infidelity, which the internet believes to be about Reinhart. Her Campus reached out to Sprouse’s team for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.

Due to the episode’s controversy, the internet decided to do some digging as to when Sprouse actually came into the studio. According to a TikTok by the creator @jessthereporter, Sprouse’s appearance on Call Her Daddy was leaked way back in December 2022. In the TikTok, the creator explains that, in a video tour of the Call Her Daddy studio, you’re able to see a whiteboard in the corner with the interview dates, or release dates, of the podcast’s upcoming guests. Above names like Nessa Barrett and Hailey Bieber, Sprouse was scheduled to come in and film on Nov. 16, 2022… four months ago. Her Campus reached out to Call Her Daddy for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.

Call Her Daddy is famous for having big-time celebrities spill the tea while the kettle is still hot. By the looks of the whiteboard, all of the guests, and their corresponding dates, line up exactly with the podcast’s past schedule… except for Sprouse. Bieber’s notorious episode was released on Sept. 28, Nessa Barrett’s episode arrived promptly on Oct. 19, and Cooper hosted the podcast solo on Nov. 9, lining up perfectly with the whiteboard in the video. If Sprouse did film the episode sometime around Nov. 9, why wait four months to release it?

However, it appears that maybe there were some scheduling conflicts that allowed the release dates to shift after the leak. Toward the end of the episode, it’s revealed that the pair are filming the podcast on Feb. 14, 2023. Finishing up his fourth (and final) cigarette, Sprouse shares that the only reason he was “allowed” to come onto the podcast on Valentine’s Day was because his girlfriend, Ari Fournier, is a massive fan of Cooper. I guess that clears things up, but I’m still wondering why the interview date was moved in the first place. Maybe the Call Her Daddy studio needed to install a stronger air filtration system so Sprouse could smoke his cigarettes, or something.
