The UMich Acting Showcase Is All Over My FYP (& Here Are The Best Ones)

The latest trend on TikTok is watching movies that users post that end up having, sometimes, more than 50 parts to them. But what if I told you there’s another trend full of “mini-movies” that are acted out by Gen Zers?

That’s right — University of Michigan acting students have been going viral on TikTok after posting clips of their annual acting showcase. Either performing monologues from popular movies, or original written material, each clip is just focused on one actor/actress in front of a blue screen — and they’re all pretty Oscar-worthy. Their acting skills are truly unmatched, and some viewers are convinced these students are professional actors and are past the point of college acting.

Each scene has a way of pulling you in and making you feel like you are in the scene with them. With that being said, I rounded up some of my fave all-stars from this showcase — and if you haven’t already watched them, then you absolutely have to!

Olivia

With 172.1K likes, the most liked and watched showcase is from actress Olivia Luisa. She makes you feel like you are going through all of the emotions with her, and she is just about as engrossing as it gets. As soon as I scrolled to her video, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. She truly has a way of drawing you in and allowing you to feel her emotions through your phone screen. Users in her comment section are hoping to see her face on their TVs one day, and so am I!

Charlotte

I have to say, I think Charlotte Um was my favorite actress from this showcase. She embodies her character so well that you go through the motions with her throughout the scene. She seems like she is already past the point of being in Hollywood, that is how great of an actress she is. No words can even describe how amazing her acting skills are, and people are going crazy over her.

Sam

If you watch any scene from this viral showcase, it has to be Sam Labovitz’s. His scene is a breath of fresh air and is another absolute favorite of mine. From going 0 to 100 with his nerves, to the absolute chaos in his scene, he does an amazing job of emoting and making you feel a part of the scene. Users describe this scene as “hilarious” and say that they would watch anything he is in. We are all in agreement on that one.

Maia

If you have seen Sex And The City, then you will be obsessed with Maia Dron’s scene. She completely takes on the role of Carrie Bradshaw. Maia is undeniably an amazing actress and I can see her doing big things one day. She has a passion that you can see from the moment she says her first line. I am utterly obsessed with this scene and Maia herself.

Violetta

Like the others, Violetta Fisco has a completely captivating acting style: She makes you feel like you are standing by a real-life couple arguing, and you forget she is just acting. Violette is someone that users want to see more of and are begging for more from. People are also going crazy over her voice and her diction, saying her voice sounds crystal clear. Violetta is def another fan fave, and it’s no wonder why!

It goes without saying that each of these actors from the UMich graduating class of 2023 are absolutely unreal. I might be an Ohio State Buckeye through and through, but I admit these students are outstanding… and I can’t wait to see them rise to fame in the coming years.
