Since officially becoming a couple in March of 2025, professional soccer player Trinity Rodman and professional tennis player Ben Shelton have been winning hearts — and matches. Their wholesome, swoon-worthy relationship has prompted lots of positive attention on the internet, from relationship timelines and analysis to articles proclaiming “I want what they have” and posts saying “May this type of love consume me.”
Of course, the two were no stranger to press even before their relationship captured fans’ attention. Rodman, a forward for the Washington Spirit soccer team, grew up in the limelight via her former pro basketball star father, Dennis Rodman. Trinity herself has now ascended to the ranks of athletic royalty, being named National Women’s Soccer League Rookie of the Year, U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year, and an Olympic gold medalist. As of January of this year, Rodman became the highest-paid female soccer player in the world.
Shelton is also related to former athletes, with parents Bryan Shelton and Lisa Witsken having both played tennis, too. And, on his own, he’s won the NCAA Championship as well as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year award and the National Player of the Year award in 2022.
It’s no surprise, then, that the pair of athletes have no shortage of exciting, heart-racing moments together. So, to commemorate Rodman and Shelton’s upcoming year and a half anniversary, here are seven moments the pair were just too cute together.
1. Their Very Chalant Meet-Cute
Rodman and Shelton met for the first time in early 2025 and wasted no time flirting with each other over social media. Rodman was the one to make the first move, sharing with Kylie Kelce on the Not Gonna Lie podcast that she DMed Shelton: “‘You’re sick, fire emoji,’ that’s it … It worked, he responded within 10 minutes, so I win.”
For his part, Shelton wasn’t subtle either. On March 6, 2025, Shelton took to TikTok to reveal that he had a crush on someone with a seven-letter name beginning with “T.”
So, it’s not surprising that only a few weeks later, the pair took to Instagram to officially hard launch their relationship.
2. Rodman Cheering On Shelton At The U.S. Open
Despite both being busy with their own schedules, Rodman and Shelton are never ones to let this get in the way of showing up for each other. They can often be spotted cheering at one another’s matches.
Most recently, after Shelton’s upset victory over Carlos Alcaraz, securing his place in the U.S. Open semifinals, Rodman took to her Instagram story to celebrate, writing, “My world.”
3. Their Dedication To Traveling for Each Other
They even go out of their way to show up and show out. During a post-match interview at the 2025 U.S. Open, Shelton told the crowd, “My girlfriend took the red-eye from California last night to be here,” revealing that Rodman had flown to Shelton’s match in New York from her own practice in Washington.
Shelton makes sure to reciprocate. After being knocked out of Wimbledon in the first round, the Olympics website reported that he flew back to the States to watch Rodman’s match against Houston on July 3 of this year.
4. Their Support For Each Other After Losses
Even when their games don’t go the way they hope, Shelton and Rodman are there to comfort one another. After a loss to New York in November of 2025, Rodman immediately ran to the sidelines — and into Shelton’ s arms.
5. Their Digital Footprint
In addition to often being spotted by one another’s sides, the pair also like posting each other on social media. Among Rodman’s digital footprint is a pinned post of her and Shelton with the caption, “Watching you with googly eyes😍🤪❤️.” Plenty of Shelton’s Instagram is dedicated to Rodman as well, documenting the couple’s time together.

Just when you thought they weren’t posting one another enough, Rodman and Shelton also make sure to celebrate each other’s birthdays on social media. Shelton keeps it simple with photos of Rodman alongside captions, “Happy birthday beautiful girl I love you,” on May 20, 2025, and “Happy birthday beautiful” a year later in 2026.
