Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s rumored romance has spiraled out of control over the past few weeks. Ever since Swift first made an appearance at Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs game on Sept. 24, Swifties have been purchasing Kelce’s jersey, catching up on Sunday night football, and creating the most out-of-pocket Twitter memes — like “seemingly ranch,” which all started with her dipping sauce of choice for her chicken tenders at the Kansas City game. It’s all fun and game though — so much so that even Kelce’s mom, Donna, is having a laugh about it herself.
On Sunday, Oct. 1 Donna attended Jason Kelce’s football game at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, where the older Kelce brother plays center for the Eagles. While at the game, she made an Instagram story post that shows her sitting next to Kevin Miles, the iconic Jake from State Farm guy. In the photo, he’s holding a plate with chicken tenders and a side of, seemingly, just ketchup. Mama Kelce took this memeable moment into her own hands, and took the opportunity to caption the photo of them two, “No, ‘Seemingly Ranch’ available at the Linc.” Miles then shared a Taylor reference himself with Donna on Twitter by posting a photo with the caption, “In my red era with Mama MaAuto.”
Some of you might be confused by this “Seemingly Ranch” meme. The saying arose when Swift appeared at the Chiefs game on Sept. 24. A photo of her with fans was shared by a fan account in which she was eating a plate of chicken tenders with a side of ketchup and ranch. The fan account captioned the photo, “Taylor Swift was eating a piece of chicken with ketchup and seemingly ranch!”
The now-infamous tweet led to numerous memes being created. Even other brands joined in on the joke, including Heinz, Hidden Valley Ranch, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, and Lay’s. Taylor Swift didn’t put Travis Kelce on the map, but she did put herself onto ketchup bottles. No seriously – Heinz announced on Sept. 27 the upcoming release of limited-edition bottles of Ketchup that say “Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch” on them. Even the Empire State Building lit up white and red that same night as an ode to the color of both condiments.
This Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce relationship has taken over not only the lives of Swifties and football fans, but also brands, every news site, and now condiments.
