In 2024, Prime will release a steamy new movie titled The Idea of You. The film, based on a book by Robinne Lee, focuses on a middle-aged woman’s romance with a 20-year-old singer from her daughter’s favorite band. It’s kind of like if your mom was the protagonist of your favorite One Direction fanfic.
In a review by Vogue, the romance was described as “…a glittering, global love affair with a thoughtful young sex god.” So we can expect this movie to be extremely hot!
Not much can be seen in the snippet Prime released that showed a compilation of the different features to be released next year, but we do know some of the key cast members of the film. In Prime’s lineup trailer, we see Anne Hathaway playing the mother Solène Marchand and Nicholas Galitzine playing the male lead who Marchand falls for, Hayes Campbell. In the video, Hathaway can be seen straddling Galitzine, asking him in a whisper “What will people say?” To which he responds, “I don’t care what people say.”
The icon Anne Hathaway needs no introduction. But for those who are unaware of who Nicholas Galitzine is, he’s a British actor who played Prince Henry in Prime’s recent movie, Red, White and Royal Bue. He has also been in Purple Hearts, Bottoms, Cinderella (the Amazon version), High Strung, and others.
Some of you might be happy to learn that Galitzine’s character was inspired by singer and songwriter, Harry Styles. When doing research for the book, Lee stumbled across the One Direction band and became fascinated by Styles. When her cyber detective skills led her to find that Styles had dated an older woman, she was hooked. Mixing ideas of him and Prince Harry, she created everyone’s soon-to-be crush: Haynes Campbell.
This book was especially important to Lee because she wanted the story to challenge the idea that women lose their libido or attractiveness as they get older and enter motherhood. She wanted to show mothers that they did not have to feel shame for wanting things such as sex which is a completely normal and valid want. She shared that though mothers have a responsibility to take care of their children, they should also be allowed to rediscover themselves and express their desires.
When Is The Idea Of You coming out?
While we have the first look at the upcoming project, Amazon has yet to announce a release date for The Idea Of You. However, it’s safe to assume the film will be hitting screens sometime in 2024.
