Taylor Swift Announced A Brand New Album At The Grammys & I’m Losing It

Updated Published

Everybody stop what you’re doing, because Taylor Swift is dropping a new album. In her acceptance speech for winning Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights during the 2024 Grammy Awards, Swift casually dropped that her new album Tortured Poets Department will be released on April 19, 2024.

While many people thought Swift would announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version) tonight, she threw a curveball and said that she would be releasing a new album. Swifties, we were clowned once again — but we are getting new TS music, so I’ll take it.

Swift arrived at the 66th Grammy Awards wearing a long white dress with black gloves, and lots of jewelry which people thought were Reputation easter eggs. While that still may be true, it’s looking like Swift was plotting something different the whole time, and fans were too focused on Reputation to even think she would be working on another project.

Right after the announcement, Swift posted about the album on her Instagram, and all of the black and white pictures make so much more sense now. The caption for the post read, “All’s fair in love and poetry… New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out April 19 🤍”

Swift has already updated her website, clearly showing she’s in a new era. You are able to pre-order the album now, as well as pre-add and pre-save. And yes, you can order the vinyl, CD, or cassette tape.

But that’s not all.

On Feb. 6, Swift released the tracklist of Tortured Poets Department and to say I’m even more excited about this album would be an understatement.

Not only does the tracklist include features with Post Malone and Florence + The Machine, Swifties are convinced some of the songs reference The Little Mermaid, Joe Alwyn, and Harry Styles.

Fans have been losing their minds over this upcoming album, and I don’t blame them (see what I did there?).

Since Swift announced this new album, fans have picked up on the album name and noticed some similarities between The Tortured Poets Department and another group of Swift’s long-time ex, Joe Alwyn. Alwyn’s group chat with fellow cast members for Conversations With Friends is named “The Tortured Man Club.” Sound familiar? TBH, I’m not sure that the two are related, but it’s definitely something to think about.

I’m starting to accept the fact that it’s nearly impossible to predict Swift’s next move, and I absolutely did not expect a new album to be announced at the Grammys. All I know is that I have my post notifications on for Swift, and I will patiently be waiting for some new merch.
