As fans around the world were collectively try to crack 33 million 1989-themed puzzles and figure out what that vault video with the letters L, U, S, and T means, Taylor Swift was probably sitting back, stroking her cats, and laughing at all the chaos. Oh, and also hanging out with Sophie Turner in NYC.
ICYMI, Turner recently ended things with her husband Joe Jonas. For years, the couple has publicly shown their support for Swift, despite Jonas’ romance with the singer in 2008. Given Turner and Swift’s friendship timeline, I wouldn’t put it past them to do the most iconic thing possible right now. And they just did.
Multiple times, Swift has made it clear that she’s putting the petty drama behind her. I’d highly doubt that Turner and Swift are trying to create any more drama than there needs to be right now. Between joint TV appearances, gifts, and having nothing but kind words to say about each other, this is most likely not a quest for revenge.
What makes this friendship even more epic is that Turner has publicly admitted she’s a 1989 stan, which is the same album that Swift is set to re-release on Oct. 27 (she revealed the tracklist on Sept. 20 – “SLUT!” truthers, y’all won). Turner is living Swifties’ dream of growing a closer friendship with the singer, especially at this time.

In the process of reclaiming her masters, Swift debuted a song from her Fearless vault called “Mr. Perfectly Fine.” Swift originally penned the song in 2008 about Jonas breaking up with her over the phone. Turner put words to many Swifties’ thoughts when she posted the track to her Instagram story, saying “It’s not NOT a bop.”
Swift had the sweetest response to the Game Of Thrones star’s compliment: “Forever bending the knee for the [queen] of the north!”

In an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Jonas revealed that he and Swift were “cool,” describing their romantic history as “many, many years removed.” Although Swift indirectly put him on blast during her 2008 Ellen appearance, the musicians and their respective fanbases have since moved on from the drama.
Jonas added that he “felt safe” ahead of the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), despite the album including the fan-favorite anthem “Better Than Revenge,” which has often been rumored to be about him.
