Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been friends for years and the 2023 MTV VMAs just proved that their friendship is still going strong. While Gomez was accepting the award with Rema for Best Afrobeats, the camera panned over to Swift who was spotted celebrating her bestie’s win. If you didn’t think these two could get any cuter, you might want to think again. Gomez and Swift’s friendship stems back more than a decade.
The two met in 2008 while dating Joe and Nick Jonas, respectively. Throughout the years, the two have been inseparable, appearing on red carpets together (let’s not forget when Gomez was right by Swift’s when she supposedly shaded ex-bf Harry Styles at the side at the 2015 VMAs), going on trips, and just being each other’s biggest fans. In 2022, Gomez called the “Cruel Summer” singer her “only friend” in the industry, which further proved just how close these two really are. After seeing Swift’s reaction to Gomez winning a Moon Person at the 2023 VMAs, it’s clear that these celebs are the definition of best friends and fans can’t get over their super cute relationship.
Immediately after seeing Swift being Gomez’s no.1 supporter during the “Single Soon” singer’s VMA win, fans flooded X/Twitter to cry over Taylena’s friendship.

ICYMI, Gomez also showed her support for Swift during the show by standing up to see her bestie give one of her acceptance speeches on the VMAs stage.

In August 2023, “Taylena” was trending on social media after Swift shared a clip from Gomez’s new “Single Soon” music video on her Instagram Story. “WHEN UR BESTIE IS THE BESTEST,” Swift captioned the post. “WILL BE DANCING TO THIS FOREVER METHINKS.”
Everyone can see how great of friends Swift and Gomez are and the 2023 VMAs were just further confirmation that these two are going to be besties for life. These two are actual friendship goals and we just can’t get enough of them!
